  • I took this with my drone on Sunday.

I know fuck all about photography and filters so I've probably made it look crap.

I have the unfiltered version still though. Would appreciate any tips on how to make it look better.

  • Dayuuum. You’ve done a decent job - it’s easy to overdo filters but generally for landscapes, a graduated filter for the sky does the job and some selective dodging/burning on details you want to pop out.

  • Thanks mate. Wish I hadn't trimmed the river on the right but I can always try it again when we next have a nice sunset.

  • Very nice.

Only thing I'd change is to try and lighten the bottom half a bit- will bring out more detail.

  • I hate these annoying things, but this is a nice picture..

  • Man I need to clean my sensor!

  • Humblebrag :) that’s such a perfect photo.

  • I genuinely took around 1 hour to do dust removal, 1st time using ND filters and I had no idea how dirty it was!

Sensor cleaning kit to be delivered today!

  • had no idea how dirty it was

    Haha, you should see mine..

..to be honest I don't bother as you only see the dirt when photographing skies and on a few other occasions, and even then it's just a few seconds with the spot healing thing in PS.

I was always afraid to do more harm than good with those cleaning kits.

  • Documenting sensor cleaning?

  • I'm not sure if this is the right thread again but I'm having issues with printing JPEGs.
I printed some photos at our college but one shows some weird errors. What's happening and how can I fix it? The first one shows the original JPEG and the second the printed one.
Files are 5000x3333 at 300ppi and printed on A3 (scaled down to 80% on the macOS preview app). The printer is just a regular big laser printer.

edit: I didn't notice but the other prints also have those errors (same colour and structure). I might try another printer

  • Info: "This tower was built Rev Dr Henry Wilder of Sulham when he was courting Joan, daughter of William Thoyts of Sulhamstead. It was located in such a position that both could see it from their respective homes, and think of one another."

  • Nice image, and nice anecdote

  • Nice clouds.

And I believe that building would be categorised as a folly:

In English, the term began as "a popular name for any costly structure considered to have shown folly in the builder"

    ...

As a general term, "folly" is usually applied to a small building that appears to have no practical purpose, or the purpose of which appears less important than its striking and unusual design

I've always loved them, the madness of constructing a whole building purely out of eccentricity. I think some of my bikes take a similar approach...

  • Yes, definitely a folly. Only just found out about this one. Pretty cool.

  • #Hot, Had I not forgot to post.
