I bought her a Lumix digital SLR a few years back and she dug it and took a couple of classes. When it was stolen last year I thought about replacing it but have been dithering as to with what. We're about to have our first kid and I thought it would be nice to get her something compact and easy to use.
Is the GM1 a good buy?
Never used the GM1 but reviews are favourable.
I'd guess since she got somewhat serious with photography, and is used to using a SLR, you might as well go for a really compact DSLR like a Canon 100D.
You won't be able to put it in your pocket, but with a kid you're going to have bags with you all the time anyway, and even a very small DSLR is much better in terms of handling than a compact camera.. -

Thanks - in the end decided to get a Big top rack top bag, and I'll just put more stuff up front and not take a saddle bag.

I bought the GM1 in the end. I don't think she is fussed about another DSLR to be honest and know the bulk would have stopped her using it. It would have been nice to find a compact system camera with a viewfinder but they seemed to be in the next price-bracket up. Happy with my decision.
Also, following the theft of the previous camera I have this bag up for grabs if anyone wants. Will stick on classifieds this unless anyone urgently wants it, in which case, feel free to PM me. http://www.billingham.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/51/category/4/

I've got an Altura Orkney which is great for shooting on the go. The map case also fits a full-size iPad for the ultimate in lazy navigation.

I was thinking about getting a Canon G7x. In the past I would have popped up to Tottenham Court Road to see if I could pick up a bit of a bargain. With all the redevelopment going on where have all the elctronic shops gone? Is there a good area where there is a high density of electronics shops now?

Took my X100 on a long-ish ride with the OG strap around my shoulder (like musette). Two issues, the strap is 'skid resistant' that makes it slightly hard for slinging it back to front and its not comfortable around shoulder; a broader contact would be nicer I think. Any cheap suggestions for this?

I find that as well. There are a few leather straps online that are more slippery...
Somewhere in France...

I got the g7x and I absolutely love it. There's speculation here suggesting it may soon be updated, so perhaps the price will drop soon...

I fell off my bike and broke my last camera doing this, it was a stupid expensive accident on my part and I was absolutely gutted. after that I started using a hard case and put it in an alpkit stem cell on my handlebars https://www.alpkit.com/products/stem-cell
(I was using some binocular straps though before that off amazon, which worked well)

Yo, here are some pictures I took while at the velodrome on Sunday. They were all taken on the Sony rx100M3 and edited in Lightroom after shooting in raw.https://flic.kr/p/wik3Mf

I have an x100t and just bought a Joby ultrafit sling strap......works well on the bike can wear backpack over..and with a nifty lock system you can slide the camera up across your body...and it keeps it snug against your side,no more constant re-arranging .
Connects to the tripod mount and swivels freely.
Hey photography people - maybe you can help me...
I'm looking for a small handlebar bag - big enough to store an Olympus EM5, maybe a biscuit and my phone/wallet.
Few requirements:
