UK Championships - The Circle/Format Revealed!

We've decided to use the Karlsruhe Circle format: every team plays their circle games then the top ranked 8 teams will go through to a single elimination final to determine the winners!

Adam, just a question - why only 8 teams through to the knockout stage. I'm guessing due to time constraints, but out of 36 teams it seems a harsh cut.

Also, what's the points spread for wins and draws etc ?

Andy, Karlsruhe was 8 out of 40 teams. And it is because of time constraints. Same reason this time you play 2 teams either side of you instead of 3 either side.

Thought so, I assumed the quali round would spill over to the second day meaning we'd have a shorter knockout round.
Someone better at maths can work out how many wins/draws you'll need to get through.

Surely it depends on how others have done?

Granted, but a safe points total must be there somewhere. I'd assume if you won 3 games out of 4 you'd have to be confident, but I really can't work that kinda stuff out.

I suspect you'll have to win all your games.

Theoreticaly, 7 teams could win all their games, but the 8th team will have to lose 1. More likely is that a few teams with 3 wins and a draw/loss will go through. I think?

the easiest thing to do is not lose a game. i'd try for that.

We had a really good go in KH, but we had a goal against l'Equipe disallowed by a blind man, and we would have definitely beaten Dans Ta Gueule if the game had gone on for another 3 hours, and I been able to get Hugo in a head-lock.
