  • i did it last year and on the way in thought i wouldn't cope, when i started riding all the tired feelings left me

  • gonna do this again this year probably. geared having done the last five years on 48 x18. lovely rolling roads. always a pleasurable ride.

have fond memories of 50 x 14 spinning along last year, jeans rolled up, centre of the road. not a care in the world.

^ ha ha ... holding up a car, or was it other cyclists ?
    Bright times!

Wonder if that couple are still together?
    Shall we find out?

there were a couple of cars behind them. but they behaved themselves and were possibly enjoying it too. you lost your massive saddle dangler around that part too.

yeah, that couple - i think we will leave it to it this year. will pm you thoughts about accommodation soon dude.

  • I'm on the head table, I'd end up in a world of pain.

Didn't know you had a daughter, Tim...

  • I think I hide the years quite well, but not as well as the wife and 12 kids that are living on welfare in Redcar.

Day trip. May be my last long ride fixed this year, before I get down with the whole geared thing.

  • cool, its a great day out, real occasion sorta ride. Plenty of lovely bikes, crinkly eyed people and good times.
be ace if Vee Vee came too!
Happy to cruise it geared more than hack around fixed with the younger lads,
    geared is the new fixed.

  • I am in!
(not sure if day trip or not. I am thinking day trip as I'd like to use the geared bike and geared bike = no luggage)

  • jaygee et vee: rendezvous au clapham?

    or at victoria?

  • Come at victoria. please!

  • great crew forming!
If I may say, picked up a new geared bike at weekend,
its a Certini (Columbus) Campy throughout,
I felt bad by dirtying it with shimano spds........
anyway this ride ^, you dont ride it so much as carress it along the tarmac,
everything is so fine and light as to be divine,
    probably be on that one.
    o.k Ill stop now,
    thanks

  • i'll be going to victoria!
but live just round the corner from jeezus et v. and the pressure of not letting the son of god down will make sure i get out of bed.

  • ii thought that you were going to waterloo a bit later
last year was a pain to wake up but it was worth it

  • Yes we'd like to take the same train as you guys from Victoria. And yes Damo we can arrange to meet locally nearer the date.

Tika, have all your tickets gone now? How did you book the trip? I am looking at South West trains and can't even put my railcard discout in. So far I get £87 for a day return for two.....

  • i have two as one is with wools. you can have them if you wish. they were 11.50 each return.

  • geared is the new fixed.

    this
    :D

nah i was going to tag along with you and wools.
is alright. will book ticket today and reserve bike space.

  • we didn't reserve bike space last time and it was ok

  • I had completely forgotten this weekend is a bank holiday, so may camp on the sunday night too. That way we can have a few leisurely beers after the ride without having to worry about hurrying to catch a ferry/train. Would anyone else be up for it?

You may well have been but that does not mean you will be ok this time round, it's quite a risk as this is a very popular ride.
