  • Oh and the forecast now says heavy rain showers for Sunday... we could get lucky.

  • Was thinking of doing the Hackney CC ride, but this sounds much nicer. Adrienne has Sunday off, so I've just emailed her to see if she's up for this. If so, two more for the day trip.

You'll be missed, but have fun in the IoW. It's an excellent ride.

Need to get the "okay!" from Adrienne first. So no train bookings yet.

(too bad we don't have our tandem yet!)

I think you'd have a hard time smuggling your tandem on most trains. Very few trains can accommodate them, to the best of my knowledge.

  • heavy rain showers. a few hills. a fair bit of wind. 6.32 start. all i need is a totally unsuitable fixed gear track bike and i'm sorted. i might ride track ratio just to make it really unbearable. some fun is to be had.

  • hey i've decided to stay overnight -
so have a spare return ticket for the Sunday evening:
dep Portsmouth Harbour at 18:43 arrive London Victoria at 21:01.

PM if you want it. £11
(not sure what the prices are going for now but might be a cheaper option if they go up)

This sounds like you're actually after heavy rain : )

    • Good man / woman / cyclist !

@ Texas - good to have you back on the right side a tha planet dude

  • I now have to go geared unless i can get a 14t cog and new back wheel.

smashed teh goldtec flange and ruined the threads on the lock ring and the only other option is a polo bike.. 34/21 is a bit stupid.. 34/14 could work.
safe bet is the cinelli and be done with it.

But does it have new bar tape yet ?

Hmmmm... afternoon on Sunday " feels like 1degree"
    It's all about the

    people

  • its all about the wool layers for me, unashamedly old school clothes and bike.
Im happy not flogging myself round, do enough racing events to want this to be first and foremost a social, so if, and its a big if we go with Arducius' idea about grouping that would be a real good crew to ride with.
look forward to shooting the breeze with you too shootthebreeze

I was meaning we might get lucky and get the gaps between showers, but cycling in the rain can be good fun too. Either way, this should be good!

Even if we don't manage to meet the people coming down for the day, there should be a decent sized group from the campers. Though would be good to get a massive LFGSS group on the go.

  • I don't know if I can cycle 100km. Let alone in 30 mile/hr winds. I do like getting out of london though!

Only one way to find out! :D

  • Oh aye. Always up for an adventure. It might end in tears, but probably not. I'll pull out the HTFU attitude, or meet you in the pub.

  • base layer /swerve milwaukee
looks like the way i'm going

  • @ Arducius - yup, got that... just sounded fun!
@ kattiep - the IOW has particular powers where cyclists are concerned. you'll have done half before even noticing you've done half :) ...especially in a group.
it's amazing how other riders can just drag you round a course... just ask Greasy ; )

  • right, i've come on here cos i'm a bit confused about these train times now.. i thought damo's gang were on the 05:04 from Victoria or something? has that changed now? does that mean you'll be getting there later?

    damotrain:
    06.32

tika train originally 05:02, posptoned to 06:32

this will be a crowded train.

'jamas: we get into portsmouth at 09:26.
not that much later than the early train.

So all the from London daytrippers are getting to Portsmouth harbour at 09:07 or 09:32 ? Is there a plan for which ferry to catch?

    (I'll be geared, probably 3).
