  • I fell asleep before the end, looked good tho'... if you like that try Is Everything We Know About The Universe Wrong? Dark matter, dark energy, dark flow... Awesome...

  • It was good although I didn't think this week's was anywhere near as good as last. Bit repetitive I thought. Might be because I'd recently watched a similar (though much drier) series on the solar system recently that went into much more detail about saturn's moons. Still enjoyable enough.

  • Fuckin' 'ell that was quick.

  • I know ;)

  • Teenstain started it.

  • He probably did.

  • FFS, what have I done this time?

  • Just cuz you can't see somefink, don't mean it ain't there... Innit, Crispy?

  • consults Dr Brian Cox

    Dr Brian Cox says 'indeed'.

  • WIth a big gushy smile and awestruck look to the heavens, no doubt...

  • Just cuz you can't see somefink, don't mean it ain't there... Innit, Crispy?

so says joe to all the girls

  • Before breaking into 'THIIIIIIIIINGS, CAN ONLY GET BETTEEEEEEERRRRRR!'

  • I got made to watch it last night by a guest in my own house. It was far superior to listening to anything coming out of my pissedup flatmates mouth. I hate her.

  • Smother her with a pillow while she sleeps... And fuck off, Jimmy...

  • He was on something for the weekend last sunday. Cringe a thon with the two twats who can only talk about football. Cox would say something admittedly geeky but interesting and they'd just stare at him speechless. Idiots

  • TIm Lovejoy is a Chelsea tho'... Granted he is a complete fuckwit tho'...

  • my favourite bit in this week's episode has to be when he's in the middle of a huge storm, running to the car giggling like a schoolgirl and repeating the phrase 'it's the end of the world!'

Made him seem quite insane but I'd probably done the same.

  • If everyone who worked in science was a bit more like him, I'd definitely be less bored at work.

    +1

the bedwetters in my lab consider discussing last nights episode of eastenders to be intellectually stimulating debate. the horror.

  • Pretty interesting stuff. All about spinning.

Never knew Saturn's rings were ice crystals. Thought they were rocks n' shit.

He kept calling Saturn, Sat-uuuuurn. A bit OTT, even for his dialect.

Very child like. Giggling into fits when the Geyser went off. Almost autism?

Got across the chaos becomes order/symmetry thing really well.

Also the gravitational pulse/timing causing the gaps in the rings. Amazing.

I'll definately be watching the next one.

  • Yes very good program

  • Yeah, a lot less dumbing down than horizon and others have come to adopt. I especially like the final bit where repeated "you and me are part of the solar system, you and me...., you and me...."

That'd annoy so many twat pedants.

  • Yeah, a lot less dumbing down than horizon and others have come to adopt.

I don't necessarily agree with that... Horizon still deals with some pretty heavy concepts, I don't find it too dumbed down... C4 stuff on the other hand... pukes on quark

  • Horizon is hit and miss, there are some great old ones, but I get the impression horizon is made by journalists investigating a topic, where as in the Cox doc it's a scientist doing the investigating. He considered a lot more concepts within the central idea than any horizon doc I've seen for a long time.

Horizon might regard an interesting topic, but it's depth of discussion is far shallower. Some of them are 70% waffle with some generic narrator talking around how mysterious, or groundbreaking something is, while leaking the odd fact. It's the same keep them keen concept used in day time telly inbetween ads. As if they have to play science up to make it interesting.

but as you say, it's better than most.

  • I caught the end of last nights episode. Wish I could get hold of the previous one(s). Damn iPlayer and its 7 day limit.

    Bring on Canvas.
