I kind of like the, worn-through-winter effect on my shoes.
Do you swap pedals and/or shoes for your commute?

Just get a cheap pair. You'll wear your way through a few pairs eventually.

i plan to move over to SPDS in the next week, commuting in road pedals on fixed is, er, interesting.

I'm curious, why? Is it the regular clipping back in thing that's interesting?

On second thoughts, I've just bought a new heavy duty pair, so you could have my 'svelte' ones that I use for commuting. You know, for free and shit.
They're actually meant to be quite posh, but I was never that impressed. Very light weight, but not as water-resistant as full-on neoprene ones. There's some gaffa tape on the outside/inside of the right one, where I stacked it on black ice during their virgin outing, and my Sidi buckle punctured them. The same patch where fatboyralph bust his collarbone, and we all went down apart from hippy because he was labouring so far behind us.
These, and they fit over my size 44 Sidi mtb shoes.

@Ste: Yeah, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong somewhere. But lights = this routine:
One foot unclipped, one clipped, push off slowly, and clip other foot in.
If I miss the rotation, or bash the pedal as I struggle to synchronise foot and pedal and motor co-ordination, it's a constant "try again, am I in? Yes/No? Repeat?" loop. So for that reason alone I'd like to move to, "clip clop bosh".@BMMF: That would be awesome, I'm pretty certain I'd only need them for a month and would return them. Even though you're offering them to me for keeps, I'm not being ungrateful. Wine/Beer in return?

damo, spd mtb cleats for commuting cannot be beaten.
alternatively - don't stop at lights / track stand.

Did E4 Ecstasy very early this morning, as reported elsewhere. Those unfeasibly quiet lanes have started to morph into filthy agricultural tracks. Such is life.

paging damo
I know this might be a long shot, as most people are taller than me; but does anyone have a knackered old/less favourite pair of waterproof overshoes that work, which I might be able to borrow until Christmas. (When, I have it on good advice, I'm getting a pair from someone...). My toe covers and oversocks have minimal water protection.....and I don't want to knacker up my Darth Vader shoes. (size 42,road cleats)
Thankyou Please.
