check train 1 or 2 above.
arrive early enough to ticket etc and be ready to board as soon as platform number goes up
trains leave from platforms 2 and 3 so meet by ticket machines near there
20:00 ride start time from st mary cray station
a few of you turned up with normal lights last time. please make sure you have big powerful lights this time. it really is for your safety and every one elses. you hit a hole and come off taking a few others down and breaking a few collar bones or worse and then we see you've got 1 led weakly flashing away on your handle bars and people are going to get pissy, so please !!
bring Spare everything too
some of these roads are narrow and have high hedges so be prepared to single up sharpish on the 'car back' or 'car up' calls. I don't want to be heavy on this one guys but from the back of the pack watching drivers get irate as they can't pass a large group of riders and you can see it would only take 1 impatient driver to start squeezing through and then have to make emergency manouvres when an oncoming vehicle appears suddenly. They are going to swerve you into the hedge rather than go head to head with the other vehicle. TNRC is not in the business of annoying other road users.
for rider safety can I also ask people not to be pissed or stoned while riding in the dark (if this doesn't pertain to you then don't sweat it)
don't read any of the above negatively. It's all good and we're all going to have another jolly good ride. :D

@6pt - unless you are having all your teeth removed because they are unnecessary weight i'd say you were trying to challenge wools and mashton for best excuse. cancel and rearrange because you are way out of your depth. mashton missed a ride last year because he had carpet burns on his ass! thinking about it...have we ever met you before or are you a mashton alias?

I'm out. My excuse is boring.
Have a good ride. If you're strugling up the Exedown, just remind yourself that Sam flew up that hill last year on a three speed brompton.

^6pt put in an awesome performance on kent 1 last year. 300 gear inches or something. exedown awaits.
good stuff from tim about safety ls & gs. these lanes are a lot more narrow and the route has a lot more honesty about it.

^6pt put in an awesome performance on kent 1 last year. 300 gear inches or something. exedown awaits.
good stuff from tim about safety ls & gs. these lanes are a lot more narrow and the route has a lot more honesty about it.
I got hit by a van (landed on my teeth, hence the ongoing dental work), spent two months off the bike and then on my first real ride back in the saddle almost got up Exedown on 84 inches after bombing it home from work to get to St Mary Cray in time. I'd hope that's enough of an effort.
I did a five hour turbo session on Sunday and I'm feeling a bit fragile, so my original plan was to get the train in to work, get the train home, dump stuff, pick up the geared bike and pootle on over.
The long forgotten dentist appointment has scuppered this, leaving the only option to be to cycle in to work, go to dentist, get out of dentist, bomb it to St Mary Cray, arrive knackered, and then be defeated by Exedown. again. I really don't want to be defeated by it again. Though come to think of it, I could just get to Victoria and get the train out. That makes much more sense, timing would be tight though. I'll put some money on my oyster on the way in tomorrow and play it by ear on the night, but the lights are on charge of any indication of optimism was required.Totally overdetailed reply there, which you really don't have to read.
Great idea, but I still won't be able to come on this one. :(
