  • Aw, I really want to go to this but unfortunately I'll be skiing in the Alps. :D

You may well be warmer than at the hill.

Or not, sometimes I've been burned...

  • sometimes I've been burned...

    Only by the jumblers...

  • 3 tickets purchased.... £13 each with the handling fee.

Cheers, Rob. Much appreciated. What time are you planning to get there?

  • Teanslain is the lol cat!

  • I'm well up for it this year. What time does the jumble kick off? I want an early start!

  • It looks like Volunteer places are already taken (well that's the jist of the email from Judith, who managed it last year), but I'm waiting for final confirmation.

I'll keep this thread updated if anyone else is interested, it was a 3 hour shift last year, but still meant that you got to watch racing / jumble / rolla / drink / eat etc.

Didn't realise the end of Rolla National League was that night! Huzzah!

  • Can you still buy tickets at the gate or is it too popular now and buying them beforehand suggested?
    Bueller?

there is no way i'm doing 3 hours work for a free £12 ticket!!

  • I think volunteers are traditionally allowed early access to the site (and therefore jumble) before punters, which might or might not be worth 3 hours of your time...

  • there is no way i'm donating 3 hours of my otherwise busy life to support a traditional event which showcases the sport I love and operates on a shoestring budget yet manages to come back year on year and raise the profile of a dilapidated venue that I use regularly, which itself is under threat.... for a free £12 ticket!!

    Well said!

  • oof.....
    told!

  • Ban him!

  • Jesus tap dancing Christ! is that the banking on the track or a wall hes leaning against?

  • Man's banking... He's saying "Are you man enough?, Well, are ya?"... Probably in a sexy accent...

  • Sorry stelle..

  • hahaha GOLD.

  • also reminded me of this

  • Oh, Matt...

  • I am so pleased that other people have freely donated 3 hours of their otherwise busy lives to support a traditional event which showcases the sport I love and operates on a shoestring budget yet manages to come back year on year and raise the profile of a dilapidated venue that I use regularly, which itself is under threat.... for next to nothing. I am happy to pay £12 for a ticket to help the stadium's finances and will be encouraging my friends to come along. I am also happy to pay the pittance charged each week for the training sessions because I know that this also helps the stadium to keep going. Herne Hill is a wonderful place, well run and a great experience for adults and kids alike. I will be doing all I can to help bring people down there to keep it in funds and alive.

    Good man

  • in. if weather = good.

  • Sorry stelle..

    Split for parts?

  • his shoes are shit. you can have them.

  • there is no way i'm doing 3 hours work for a free £12 ticket!!

Ah, the blinkers of youth! Robbie Hoops, it was actually fun doing it last year - I got to check in the riders, meet all you rabble as you turned up (even if Mrs O might have tried to run me over in the CliveWagon), got first dibs at the jumble as there's a little pre meeting to work out roles etc. and then point out how they were doing it all wrong, so by the time you'd had your rusks, and got down there it was all ticketyboo!

Besides, after doing 2 one hour shifts, things at the gate had got quiet, so I got to stand in the rain drinking trampbeers and watch hardly anyone go round the track. Oh.

    also reminded me of this

Apparently I'm not allowed to give you rep three times in a row.

  • Volunteering is fun!
