I hadn;t spotted that. The bikely route turns left at the south east corner of the res', and then up to a village, then right down a nice road and along a mainish road to the pair of roundabouts. We would be best off doing that, as after the left turn there's a lovely fast blast along the res, last year we all went a bit bonkers there.

    Cool.

  • Oooh, the orange and yellow are sparkly?

I'd have to name the bike Clement, after London's Famous The Bells of St. Clement's and the widely celebrated oranges and lemons therein...

  • Yeah but I wouldn't be able to get that Clement Freud out of my head. Not good.

It's unoffically called the Saffron Walden Pond.

  • Can't wait to see your lovely Saffron Pond B. Will be nice to roll our hubs together.

  • You sodding prevert.

  • Hi Guys can someone confirm a set time and start point as we dont internet at home at the mo?
    Ta

  • @Sarah - Meeting at the Polo Court @ Brick Lane for 7.30am for a 8.00am start or a bit before at the bagel shop for pre ride coffee and bagels

  • Yep. Leaving as close to 8 as we can. Obviously, if there is a problem with someone getting a puncture and will only be a few minutes late, we will be patient. Make sure you have a phone number or two of people who are coming on the ride. Useful on the ride too.

    Don't be stressed. Leave early.

And a repeat of the original advice on the OP: please check over you bikes, tyres, check and tighten nuts and bolts and oil your chains, cream up your bodily cracks if that's your thing etc. etc. Bring all the tools and tubes you might need. If you're worried that your tyres may be a little old, bring a folding one, two spare tubes, whatever. Or better still go out and buy some new ones today.

Also bring water, and some salty as well as sugary snacks. The dehydration risks are greatly increased in hot weather. Salt and sugar together are really important to help reduce this.

    Can't bloody wait.

  • If you run out of water, shout. People will either give you some of theirs, or we can stop at the next convenient place to fill up.

    Sunscreen too peeps!

  • Oh yeah, sunscreen.

Yes we will deffo be stopping regularly for water refills at kindly looking shops, pubs, houses, whatever.

  • Why the feck are you meeting so early?

  • Cos we're fucking cool

  • And we're trying to deter you

  • Job done

  • Why the feck are you meeting so early?

    It's a very valid point.

I'm commuting from Jamaica so 9 o'clock might be better

  • Job done

    clenches fist
    grits teeth
    yes....

  • But seriously...
It'll be cooler for the first 10-15 miles of the ride, which is the shittest part of the route, with potentially the most traffic.
Also, Skully gets up at the crack, and what he and his Dave Yates says... fecking goes ; )

  • /Tim Henman
