edit: by the way - i was in southend last weekend and we found one pub, relatively not far from the seaside, called "The Alex", that serves fish'n'chips 2 for £6 and cheap booze too. they've got a juke box and all in all pretty decent place.

The Alex is just off the High Street. Fish & chips absolutely must be by the sea if its sunny :)

I think this the only summer ride I've not done yet. Those of you worrying about the length of ride can hang me with. 2 months of joblessness has killed my commuting miles and my legs but I should still be able to deal with this. Like Flynn, I'm in.

Yeah! We're gonna have fun on the Southend bit, roads get pretty busy for the last five miles. Some breaking up and single fileage would be sensible.

if you rode directly home, you could probably make it more like 110 - 120... i was thinking about it...

Last year Stix's local knowhow let us avoid the horrible Southend traffic, a bit, by detouring through Sutton village and down through Southchurch to the front. A great improvment as the final mile or two of the original route is a bit frantic.

Attatched is the amended route, I hope Stix will confirm i have it right before you all print it off.
