There's a lot more on the market than those 2, they were just examples.

Recently brought a road bike and in need of some Reliable pedals, I'm debating whether to go for track or road style, planning to ride the bike for abit and then maybe convert to a fixed gear. Preferably something like the classic Campag pedals.
Mks or stay away?Any suggestions would be nice

You can't go wrong with these:
They've got all the advanced features like raised bits to stop your foot slipping, areas of space to save weight, and two special orange windows that can bounce light away.

Please use the correct technical terms.
They've got all the advanced features like raised bits to stop your foot slipping (humpy bumpy bits) areas of space to save weight (aero technology) and two special orange windows that can bounce light away (shiny doofers)

Make sure you get at least 2 pedals and that they can go on opposite sides of the bike.
Shimano pedals are good, but then so are Looks. The Campag ones are OK, too. As are Speedplay and Time.
Personally, I'd go for an obscure far-eastern brand that takes weird cleats that aren't made any more.

Tough crowd....
Time ATAC and Sidi Dominators if you want to ride clipless and fixed.
MKS GR9 with clips and straps if you want a good cheap option to wear with trainers.
BMX pedals and power straps if you want to be a fixie skidder.

MKS Prime Sylvan Road
Like above, but with Ti coloured cage and smoother bearings. -

^can you get shiny doofers as an aftermarket add-on?

At least you don't have to drill any of them to make them fit for purpose.

Just as well I've never had to drill any of my shoes then.

You should just get some of those pedals I linked to earlier, for your needs.
I've seen energy saving lightbulbs that put out more watts than you.

What pedals do they use?
-
• #67
I'm not sure, but it's possible the threads are suspect, as riders are always asking how many people it takes to change them.

I was looking in the list of lists thread....I really want to change the pedals of my fuji classic track. The pedals are the stock ones, they look a bit like these, with 3 screws to attach the plastic pedal cage
I can't get used to them. I never used cages in my life....i cannot stick the right foot in (I start with the left)....I manage to get it done by pedalling very very slowly....but it is very annoying most of all at traffic lights where I have to do a clean fast start.
So just a few questions:
1 - does the cage really make a difference when riding? I have two brakes....i know cages and straps are useful to skid and everything. I don't plan on riding without brakes because as I said in my city if the police see me, it's very big money to pay.
2 - will another cage make it better? Maybe it will be easier to catch the new cage with the foot while pedalling?
3 - third option is just switch to normal flat pedals. I like the snafu anorexic fixie ones, I would avoid getting normal mtb / bmx pedals...i don't think they would look good on my bike but the snafu are pretty little.
I have a fuji classic track.

If you have 2 brakes, it probably doesn't make much difference for stopping, but it is more efficient for pedalling, as you can pull on the upstroke as well as push on the downstroke.
How long have you been trying? It does take a while to get used to.
-

i never tried to pull the upstroke...the cages just don't look that comfortable to pull on, also I would have to pull the cages very tight on the foot to feel comfortable on pulling them....is that right? that means not being able to take the foot out whenever you want....I don't know, with flat pedals everything would be so easier.
What about flat pedals + those big straps I see sometimes? I think those are for 'freestylers'...but they look so comfortable....

Been finding my MKS track pedals uncomfortable underfoot, diggin into the sloe. Only on one foot though, maybe related to smashing the cage out of shape?
Could this be due to the cages being a bit too smal? Size uk10 with L cages.Tempted to move to flat pedals and holdfast Velcro straps. As it's a bit annoying.

Pedal debate. Just thought you may make my descision easier..... On offer are C-record or record campy pedals that need some love & attention, MKS gr-9's or Sylvans again or a new contender the Token platform which i guess is like a wellgo or white industries...... sort of. The rest of the bike is Campy / Cinelli / Selcof still its a daily rider though.
