Get yourself a proper frame.
-
• #378
I did think about a 30 at the front but it might not clear the stays.
-
• #379
Also, when I fit the 16t I'm gonna file my dropouts a little and remove a link from my chain for a teeny bit shorter wheelbase.

28:16 => 42.87
28:17 => 40.35
29:17 => 41.79
30:17 => 43.23Does your frame really only fit 29T on a normal 50mm-ish chainline?
-
• #381
But that would mean I could jump 9 places with a new freewheel, it would be foolish not to buy it now.
I did think about a 30 at the front but it might not clear the stays.
Go trials and fit your freewheel at the crank.
21:12 => 42.87
22:13 => 41.46
23:13 => 43.34Or get a 35mm/1.35 rear tyre again so 29:17 is 42.2gi

I have changed my tyre and my sprocket!

Doing this would require changing most of my bike, or I could get a 16t like I said, rather than new cranks, new frame to take an ISIS BB and trials cranks, new ISIS BB and trials cranks and a new hub for a 12t sprocket.
-
• #385
And where would I find a decent 21-23 freewheel? Worse idea ever. My new tyres are also far too awesome to change.
-
• #386
White Industries do 22t trials and 21, 22 and 23t Eno....
-
• #387
You could even get a Dos 20/22t freewheel and have multiple ratios and a slightly off chainline!

Freewheel at the crank, 12T fixed sprocket.

Those cranks might even be shorter than 150. Must check.

Have you stolen alfie's bike?

It was a stopgap measure, but now I've gotten used to them.
Shane Murphy in Toronto has them, pointed them out to me, swears by them.

Freewheel at the crank, 12T fixed sprocket.
True, well now it makes sense to get all the other stuff.

All being equal, shorter cranks increases gain ratio but you lose out on leverage.

shirley a wide qfactor is desirable for stability?

Snotter uses 3-piece BMX cranks so he's already running high-Q.

Knees are happier with wider Q factors.

Bump. Moar ratios.
Get yourself some proper chainrings.
