quite seriously now, Books are always good, maybe buy him something you've read recently and think is awesome, or just one of your favourites, even if its not necessarily his thing I always like it when someone gifts me something they're really passionate about...and you can never have too many books.

How about a VeeVee clone? JayGee is a saffa but a nice saffa and I assume that this is due to the civilising influence of VeeVee.
-

Hmmm, I had no idea that my VeeVee-less-ness was what made me so fucking obnoxious.
Interesting! -

Presents-wise how about stuff from London's famous London, it's all a bit Ho Hum for us, but he'll prolly like TShirts with Underground maps on etc
I always wanted to print up TShirts with "Mind the Gap" in isiZulu, and the underground sign- "Quaphela iGap!"
How about an A-Z and a promise to let him stay with you in London?

I would have suggested my nieces but one is married and very pregnant and the other lives with her German boyfriend in Germany so we don't talk to her anymore.

get him into cycling! best birthday present ever....
you could get him lance armstrong's autobiography, nelson mandela's autobiography, some Reggae Reggae sauce, a cycling jersey, some good chocolate and crisps (or 'chips' as they say out there), .....South African confectionery sucks.
from what i remember from living there, the general public love:
oakley sunglasses
braai's (bbq)
nando's
flip-flops
caps
rugby
cricket
beer
motorbikes
house musicwhere in SA does he live?
how much are you wanting to spend? you could probably hire him a nice day out on a bike somewhere sunny depending where he is located, for the price of a hardback book and postage....... -
