I took some photos of Jimmy Choo once. His business card is awesome - it's silver.
I think Barclays as a sponsor actually came along quite late in the day, as with the cycle hire scheme.
I'm sure the blue helped persuade them to sign up, but I do believe it was already decided. And I'm not fan of Boris or Kulveer Ranger.

Come on guys are you serious? If Copenhagen had pink lanes do you think London's would be pink? No, they would be Barclays Blue. How do you explain that it is EXACTLY the same shade?

I rode the lido line yesterday and it was weird.

it's too close for comfort!!!

realistically, as they are not branded on route at all (as far as i can tell), and no one is going to call them cycle superhighways, let alone 'barclays' superhighways, who gives a shit.
at least they've put some money into a thing that may benefit a burgeoning riding population.
IMHO, the sponsorship is inevitable, as it has been in France's Velibs. -

None of my commute is smurf blood blue.
I also bank with Lloyds. There.

However, I can imagine that the blue-ness of them helped persuade Barclays to stump up the cash.
People moan about businesses not giving anything back and then they moan about them paying for public facilities or concert halls. You can't have it both ways.Maybe I got over paranoid about the blue but please don't think these corporations are 'giving' anything. When you give something to somebody, do you plaster 'given by BlueQuinn' all over it? No, because that's not 'giving'!
It's corporate branding - all over our city, our country and our lives. I'm no raving marxist - far from it! - but it makes me angry.

Nonsense.
They're blue because they stand out, and different from other separated road markings (e.g. red bus lanes - unless you think the red lanes are sponsored by Coca Cola). Its just a colour on the road. Deal with it.
In fact if you are only bitching about the colour scheme of a network of cycle lanes in the city, I would consider that progress - at least the cycle lanes are actually there. What brand of bicycle do you ride?

I used to be a Marxist until someone sponsored me not to be.
IMO sponsorship of the blue paint is less of an issue than the joke that is the "superhighways" themselves. A monumental waste of money and resources with no redeeming features.

I cycle a few metres above the surface of the earth lest I touch the evil corporate road paint.

corporate sponsorship is big business. without it, we wouldn't have nice things.

The Marxists sponsored the bus lanes.

What is wrong with the green we already have for bike lanes? It matches the colours of our city. Why have TWO colours for bike lanes?
OK so you don't mind corporations branding every area of public life. Maybe you work in advertising, or you just don't care.
I'll have to deal with it. sigh...

It's on all the 'cycle super highway' banners.
