I had to queue for 10 minutes to fucking vote...
-
• #903
I managed to get there at the front of a queue that formed very quickly behind me. Maybe they were all trying to copy my answer?
-
• #904
interesting, abosolutely no queue in hampstead..
-
• #905
At least double the usual turnout at my polling station. If its like this nationwide its going to take a very long time to count all the votes.

I hope you got it wrong, on purpose.
You're only cheating youselves.

Well, I went to cast my vote. Disappointed is the only word. I was ready to put my cross there for Mr Churchill and Mr Kitchener but neither were on the list of 'candidates'. Is this the way 'Great' Britain shows its gratitude? Is this a land fit for heroes?

I'm wearing this..
and voting for the Greens.
There's an Audi parked every day on Bethnal Green Rd with a big "vote green" sign in the back window.
Green fail.

This is odd. Until those TV debates I thought voting Conservative was the only way to sack Brown. And now I feel anything is possible and have voted Lib Dem. It will be an interesting election that's for sure.

Didn't have to wait around at my polling station. I did go when most people would be at work though.
Overheard some old ladies just leaving saying they'd voted Lib Dem but mispronounced the candidates name. Columba Blango not Columbo Bingo..

I am a little perplexed that all the minor parties like the Greens, did not ask their supporters to vote LD ?
I didn't hear a mention of this anywhere ?
My logic here is that a strong Liberal Democratic presence in Parliament would force through some form of PR . . . which would make an enormous difference the the minor parties - albeit in the coming elections rather than this one, but it would be a very wise sacrifice/investment for all these smaller parties.

I don't get all this tactical stuff. I just did the vote for policies thing and it said greens. I've not been paying near enough attention but wanted to vote here just to see what it's all about. I was less drunk than the last time I voted in Australia so this may have altered my perception. Anyway.. what's done is done.

But tynan, that would require the parties to look beyond their own self interest and play a long game. That's not their style.

2 litre diesel.
Hmm, red car/blue car Milky Way advert was just on. Subtle election tie in perhaps?
Wibble, Bingo or Blango, how can you not vote for a candidate with an awesome name like that?

Tynan, an environmental website I was reading earlier on was urging people to do just that if the greens stood no change in their constituency. It gave an environmental hierarchy of voting with what to do if you had a Lib Dem/Labour/Tory majority. Seemed fairly sensible.
Hippy it's good to vote for whoever you believe in, but strategic/tactical voting is grounded in practicality.

Did anyone have to queue for 'nearly an hour'? Or was that just twitterers?

It's usually the same in Oz. I also voted Green a couple of times and they tend to align with one of the major parties so effectively your vote means fuck all.

I walked past one polling station to another and was in there for about 10min and that was only because my address has changed and they had to ring and confirm I could vote at their booth. It was dead.

even without tactical voting which may affect whether there is some sort of p.r,
a vote for one of the minor parties counts equally well. there has always been, and always has to be persistent minorities, if there wasnt we would be even more fucked than we will be if the tories get in. good luck everyone. -

Queued for maybe three minutes, did my part for democracy, got a curry*.
Hippy- why on earth did you vote for the "back to the dark ages for you world" party?
*I did not get the curry for voting, my girlfriend bought it

We lucky few in Cambs & Peckham had some good names to pick from:
Columba Blango, Yohara Munilla, Joshua Ogunleye, Decima Francis..
