Lab &lib dems have far more in common than either do with the tories. The majority favour their policies, and the tories' ideas on economics are very much a minority view internationally.

The lib dem's problem is that they are trying to distinguish themselves from 2 parties with almost the same policies as them. Being in the middle only works if the guys either side of you are far away. At the moment it's like Nescafe vs Maxwell House vs Mellow Birds. 3 varieties of undrinkable filth, when what you need is Lavazza vs PG Tips vs Famous Grouse. Or something.
Lib Dem's only mantra is "we have stated how we will pay for this" but it's damn easy to say what taxes you will raise and what exciting promises you can make when you know you're never actually going to have to do any of it.

One of my favourite aspects of any General Election is when politicians team up with celebrities to 'get down with the kidz' in a futile attempt to attract younger voters.
Cameron leads the cringeworthy poll now, as today he's out campaigning with Gary Barlow of Take That.

gary barlow? oh god no. In retrospect look how bad all that 'things can only get better' sh*t labour pulled in 97. i am as apathetic as the chavs this time round, the whole thing is a crock of shit

They should distinguish themselves, because they are very different, and it seems to be working.
I don't understand the perception that all the parties are the same. On certain issues, there tends to be a broad consensus between 2 parties, but the parties themselves are very different.
The lib dems plan to abolish all banker's bonuses, for salaries over 200k. They allow larger salaries but no bonuses. They only similar thing Labour has done is a trading tax.
How different do you want them to be?It would be nice if there was someone to represent your own personal politics, but it's an impossibility.

People want the parties to be different, they want new ideas, when a new (kind of) party distinguishes itself with progressive tax policies, people say "well they would say that".
British people put up with the politics they complain about, because they go someway to engineering it. Either hesitating to consider change, or taking no active interest until it's on ITV primetime.
(This isn't directed neccesarily at you blue quinn)

^^ I think maybe you assume, because he's mentioning it so much, that he is naive. I see it as simply highlighting a point that isn't highlighted very often if at all in previous elections. People are naive, they need to hear it.

Does anyone know if the vido of some Twitter user calling David Cameron a cunt has been mirrored anywhere? ITV are covering it up by exercising their copyright of the material.

I don't have a problem with old people selling their homes.
Agreed, what have they been saving for all of their lives anyway? Probably to give money to their kids so that they can perpetuate the class divide.

Really? I suppose that I have learnt that LFGSS and internet forums in general are not really a great place for political views.

And is the converse true? Do people who do not own homes come from all classes?

Alastair Stewart likes the sound of his own voice an awful lot. He should join the forum.

There are any number of people I would say are solidly middle class who cannot afford to buy anywhere - most recent graduates, for example. The same has to be true of what's left of the old working class, and there are a few aristocrats who got taxed out of their homes and now rent or lease bits of them off the National Trust.

If there is one thing I can take from last night it is that Nick Clegg is even less interesting than I thought he was. I found him really irritating, he played the 'two old patries fucked it all up' card too often and was really patronising with the audience. they want to get Vince Cable on the case.
Yeah, get the darkies out and especially the muslams.
