No idea about listed buildings and the like, I imagine that does preclude certain features. Real shame though.
Stating the bloomin' obvious, but it's a really unpleasant idea that people walk past a house, see an open door and view it as an opportunity.

Unless there's a structural issue your landlord is talking bollocks (unless it's you that's talking bollocks).
it's me, I assumed there's certain part I can't change, such as the windows.
as for the door, the neighbour also leave the back door open too, begger's belief, we only know this recently.

Hey Ed,
Is your landlord Bedford estates? if so they'll fix the door thing pronto. Also bring it up on your next rent review and ask for a rebate, they're usually very sensitive to this sort of thing. Know it's not the same as the bikes but every little helps...

The coaster brake needed changing, hope they crash and smash their mobile phone.
I hope they step in dog poo when on their way to a restaurant for a date.

When the front door is closed, is it a tight seal, or can you push it slightly in the frame? I ask only as a friend has his bikes stolen and they had assumed it was the neighbours, however the police checked the front door and is it could move slightly in the frame, they were pretty confident they scrotes had somehow popped the lock. I assume in some kind of credit card Lethal Weapon style
Just something to bear in mind before you beat the neighbours with a D lock

tight seal, otherwise we wouldn't have been confident having bicycles in the hallway, even the landlord's son leave his bike in the hallway too.
-

ed. When you say the door was left open do you mean ajar or just shut but not locked ?
When the door is shut can anyone see inside through into the hallway from outside - e.g. glass panels ?Good luck getting the bikes back.

I cannot stop looking outside the window. It just hurts so much to know that my bike is just somewhere near it just here. Im in the verge of tears right now.

I know that feeling. After I had my bike stolen years ago I couldn't stop eating because I just felt empty. [/emotional shit]

Terrible news. Eyes out north on the off chance. Will do brick lane on sunday as well as I'm that way anyway.
Keep your spirits up guys, and be sure to drop the bill to the neighbours. Just got rid of my flatmates who never bothered to lock up, feel lucky to make it through a year without being jacked. -
