  • When I had someone like that who did the same thing, I asked them to provided me the cost of the bicycle they've paid for, put it in a spreadsheet with labour cost/repair/etc. and compared it to the cheapest OTP bicycle we sell (Jamis Trail XR), which doesn't need any servicing after a couple of months (including free service and adjustment when needed).

The supermarket one came out costing more, it's the only way I can convince them that it's not worth buying.

  • china, idiots, cheapest one in tescos

    neeext

Yeah, I knew that, was a rhetorical question really.... is that the correct spelling.

They go to A6 cycles, Snottyotter tells them how much their cheapest new bikes are. Offers to show them the second-hand ones, but they shun them, and are directed to Tesco/Halfords/Argos.

They then return a few months later with a wreck which was never properly assembled, pleading poverty and wanting free repairs, or they come back a week later wanting their mail-order/supermarket-box bike properly assembled and are astounded by how much a mechanic's time costs to do that kind of check and setup.

    Lost causes.

I don't think I would buy anything from ottysnotter either.

    What is this OTP?

Those Jamis do look alright for the money... I like the way they don't waste budget on some shitty sus forks.

  • It's like horses in westerns. You just have to throw a rope over a nearby railing to stop your bike from wandering off.

  • These wire fences can be cut with a sponge, yet each day I see loads of bikes in the same spot. They don't even go through a wheel, it is astonishing

About 5 mins before you owned it? :P

I've locked to short posts before, but using a D-lock, and only to short posts with a nobble on top.

  • Even took the fitting lol
