cool story warning: I used to work on the Haymarket and often locked up on a parking meter outside macdonalds. One day after work I came out and it had gone - the parking meter had been moved about 20 yards down the road, and the workmen who'd done it had gone to the trouble of making sure my bike was still locked to it when they finished moving it.

Not quite as shocking as watching the TV* news one evening and seeing Terry Venables being interviewed standing in front of my bike.
*Olde worlde expression for the television, not short for Terry Venables. As far as I know he doesn't have his own channel. Yet.

it's my bike. I borrowed the lock to pop to the local shop. It was just to stop someone walking off with it. I just had to take the picture because it's ridiculous.

Who did you borrow the lock off? Barbie?

Unfortunatly no picture, but I saw a bike locked up yesterday with a padlock through a loop on a mesh fence, clipped onto the rear pannier rack

That piddly little thing isn't going to be accepted if you lodge an insurance claim, whether you left it in lovely St Margarets or not...
I wouldn't want a nice bike like that go walkies... :(
