What about the rule about no more churches?!?
-
• #5828
No moar buildings!
There are enough rules, why add more?

^methinks someone still really wants to do a shoe tag
You can do a shoe tag if you can prove you were standing in your socks in a puddle when you took the photo.

We've not tagged all of the London Chruches yet, once we have, there will be none left for anyone to tag, but until then, I think that they're fair game, if you really want to tag them...

Sorry, I've been meaning to update the map for a couple of weeks - C3K does it sometimes too.
Likewise; been meaning to attend to it for a while.
Also, I changed all the markers on the first page to your yellow balloons. I'd been planning to change all the markers into the slightly smaller balloons, but by the time I completed the first page, I decided that the bigger ones were better. Uh oh!
I was also wondering if flicker would be better for the btob map. (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/65194286@N04/sets/72157628146624660/map/ )

Actually, I don't think the flickr map would be better. Only seems to show a few at a time.

Flickr is rubbish. Sorry personal rant.
I have a church that I want to tag. It's worthy of a good photo so waiting for the right day.
Was really hoping to get the last tag just before I set off on my last London 2 Paris in September and tag the Eiffel Tower and fuck the game right up. I was foiled by a difficult tag though. Bah.

Old - Strata, Elephant and Castle:
Bonus shot from construction:
New - 3 floors taller:

If this is what I think it is, Google street images is no help whatsoever...
-
• #5838
^ agree but if it is what I think it is, if you walk down an adjacent street on Streetview and then look back, what was not there before magically appears..
Still no real help though.

I think we're talking about the same place and it is 3 floors (although many, many metres) taller.

There aren't really any rules at all- I for one quite liked the fact that 'the rules' weren't "displayed", and that new people to the game sort of work it out as they go along, 's much more sort-of organic and so the game evolves according to who's playing rather than having a rigid, enforced framework.

^ Spot on.

Interesting fact: You won't see the turbines of the Strata building turning during work hours. The architects neglected to factor in the noise of the spinning blades, after numerous complaints from the offices on the top floors the turbines were put out of commission between around 9:30 and 5:00.*
*friend told me, but I have no reason to doubt her.

Always wondered why I never see them spinning.

I can always edit the first post and take the rules out if need be. I left it for a reason, the game evolved to how the taggers wanted it to. Sometimes it's nice to just let something have it's own flow rather than go back to the beginning and correcting it, even if it was to make it better. Anyway, I enjoy reading the posts and seeing the pics. I read the new posts before I sleep. Some very interesting characters in here.
I don't own a fixie so no tagging for me, but I would love to do a tag one day with busy Oliver! No homo.

I always felt that rule 6
- The rules may only be broken only if one of the two following clauses apply
a) It is funny
b) You really, really want to
was the most important of them all

I agree, I think it should be left more open.

Of course you can tag. People have even done Shoe Tags of Shoe. And you do have a bike, don't you?Let's definitely get together sometime and see if we can nab a tag.

I'm always up for a a bit of reflectoporn on the streets of london, in fact, I think that I would be more impressed than anything else!
---edit---
that makes it sound like I'd that the photos, "always up for a bit of someone elses reflectoporn" might be truer

Strata is apparently one of the first buildings ever to incorporate wind turbines. I think Wiki says they were expected to provide enough energy for the communal area of the building and 8% of the building's (estimated) operational needs. So that's fallen a bit flat then, if a third of each day's generating capacity has been removed. How long before the turbines even offset their own manufacture?
But there are lots of other enviro-advances incorporated into its construction supposedly making it about as green as a haystack.
The New tag? I think its a 'scraper that also touts pretty specious benefits regarding photovoltaic cells.
The map needs a good update from one of the google maps experts. Must be at least 20 tags since the last map update.
If anyone has the time to give it some TLC it would be much appreciated.
