The thamesmead community centre on the edge of that lake forms the backdrop the the Channel 4 hit TV series "Misfits".
(Which is how I came to learn of it and decide to tag it).

Had argument with Flickr, grrrrrr.
Old Tag (2 photos included to try and give more detail):
The installation is called "Assembly" and is by an artist called Peter Burke.
New:
From a new art installation, to an old utility installation.
Clue: The Kray twins were imprisoned very near here, but not for what you might think! -

Sadly I grew up in the other part of Woolwich.
The location of the old tag was in The Royal Arsenal in Woolwich by the clipper boat pier. For anyone interested in architecture and / or history the Arsenal is well worth a visit as it contains some magnificent buildings from it's days of manufacturing arms and ammunition together with a museum.
A better picture of the old tag can be found here

It really is a very nice sculpture/art installation in a very nice area albeit surrounded by some less salubrious Parts of the world. There are lots of pictures of it on t'internet and when I found these I first thought it would be by Anthony Gormly. I especially like the fact that you can see inside some of the figures and that they are much more detailed on the inside, I tried to show this on my first picture.

Anyway thank you wvm for inspiring me to get out of the house!

I have 2 pre tags of the new one that I just considered deploying but I can't bring myself to cheat quite that blatantly. Fits nicely with the theme from a week ago, and another we had a few months ago, and another we had about a year ago.

Didn't know it was actually a tunnel just thought it was a cool old building.
My clue for those who don't know refers to the fact that the Kray twins were held at the Tower of London in 1952 for desertion having gone AWOL from their national service. They were among some of the last people to ever be held prisoner there.
