So, you can? I thought it would be weird to to post the old one at night and in the same post a sun-bathed photo of a bike.
-
• #18753
I think that's frowned upon, or at least should be. Unless you tag something at the same time and then realise it's been done.
Part of the fun is also travelling miles to your new tag knowing someone could post theirs before you get there.

Oh good, it was the stair I thought it was. I was hinting that it was by The Royal Scot Hotel, then suddenly wondered if A) it was, and B) whether the hotel had changed its name since I lived round there in the 90s.

Wondering if I can somehow get a bike tag in a weeks' time with the assembled GSIAD, as a kind of setup cheat, to celebrate 10yrs of forum...
If any of the awesome tagdemons (you know who you are) could see about dropping a tag somewhere en route from one of the GSIAD pub stops (or even tag a pub just before we get there!) that would be totally 531.

Nice thinking.
Is there a thread for said GSIAD?
-
• #18758
For those who are a bit less O to the mofo G than others: GSIAD is "Grand Slam in a Day". A grand slam is going to every compass drinks in a single week. GSIAD is doing that in a day, on bikes.

Have you been hiding in a cave for the last 3 months...

Yes. Caveist.

That's fantastic!

The new tag, I think, might be in east London, probably Hackney. But the clue is not specific to the street name or building.

New tag is this unprepossessing wall which is going to turn out to be something strange and facinating.

@tommmmmmm @middleofnowhere the clue is "Iain Sinclair's labyrinth"
The new tag, I think, might be in east London, probably Hackney.
It may very well be, Sinclair is most famed for his writing about the borough.
But the clue is not specific to the street name or building.
It is.

Found it, but am currently 70 miles away and can't tag it until tomorrow.
Am sure someone will oblige beforehand.

That's a great frame. What is it? Is it Stayer as in the E11 bike shop?

Well played, @cgg.
The building in question is Labyrinth Tower, in Dalston.
A whole chapter of Hackney: That rose-red Empire, by Iain Sinclair, is dedicated to this place. He interviews Anya, an architect, who recounts the golden nights of Labyrinth Club, a mythical rave place - on which this sad tower was built.
More about Labyrinth on Vice
On the site of The Four Aces now stands a property complex of 550 luxury apartments. One of these towers has been christened Labyrinth Tower, alongside its neighbours Dunbar Tower, Marley House and Wonder House. When asked how Newton Dunbar feels about having a luxury tower named after him, he responds unperturbed: “They called it Dunbar Tower without consulting me. I do not know if they were taking the mickey, or if they had some other more sinister intention. It’s certainly no compensation for the building which was taken from me.” According to Newton, “the demolition of The Four Aces laid down the roots for the subsequent gentrification of Dalston.”

PS: nice tag, @cgg. Might come retake it this afternoon.

Calling Rule 2 above but should happy to let it slide as it's a first offence. You must post the old and new tag at the same time, either in the same post or immediately following each other.
Very happy there's such enthusiasm from new players though, the rush to tag a place quickly is one of the best bits about this game!
