  • Apologies for the cross-posting Taggers but I thought a few of you might like to join in with this on Saturday:
    http://www.lfgss.com/events/544/

Opportunity to revisit five old tags along (or not far from) the route..
@DC13's 259, @oat44's 370, my own 414, and @wvm's 474, 501 & 665 (map numbers - not sure how to get links back to the thread from them..)

Plus there is a pub stop at the end..

  • Can probably work in a visit to the current Tag if you are coming from town direction… : )

  • Is that one of your photos Ludwig?

  • Doesn't count, it's outside the M25.

  • Old:
This stone marks the boundary between St. Mary's parish, Rotherhithe and St. Paul's parish, Deptford. Until 1899 this was also the Kent - Surrey boundary. The stone was on a bridge over the Earl Creek nearby, but was relocated here in 1988.

    New:
    Lenox?

  • So where actually is the old tag? I spent ages trying to work it out and still haven't actually found it - near Greenland Pier?

  • That's it. Right behind the boatyard.

  • The wall is the basis for many a barbecue by garden-less local rezzies during balmier months...
    Lovely bike BTW, 7ven.
Not sure about your Lenox clue - although Murdoch's News International used to import/stash their paper here not so long ago....

I live one street back and love the area. Always used to catch the clipper to work and walked past the wall everyday. The proposed gentrification is a bit scary though.
Google Lenox and the name of the site and something will come up :)

  • Fascinating stuff.
    Thanks

  • Moar cluez needed?

  • Yes

  • From 15 December 1900 there was tramway access to the Foreign Cattle market....

  • And there are bats living in that building in the background that need to be protected.

  • Before moar beton. Very good, but not now.

  • The proposed gentrification is a bit scary though.

much like a half mile away at Aragorn Tower:
    http://docuwiki.net/index.php?title=The_Tower:_A_Tale_of_Two_Cities

    very worth a watch

  • I saw that when it came it and it's an incredibly well made accurate representation of the area how it used to be. Skag heads stealing scrap metal. All fairly harmless characters though. Kind of miss how it used to be.

  • that looks great, thanks!

  • also, I'm not tagging as I haven't been on my bike in... months.
BUT are moar clues really needed? it's one that you can actually guess approximate area from the two visible high-rise towers, and it's easily spottable from a helicopter view (or online equivalent.. ).

  • a clue, of sorts.
there's a highly popular non-forum ride that goes very close to it. the bit of the ride closest to it is the most marked bit of new development that last year suddenly blocked your view through a lovely big old wall of arches, in a most disagreeable manner.
