I quite like the gas holder shaped memorial behind it too:

It is on Twelvetrees Crescent btw if you were wondering what on earth the clue was on about. A most unusual area.

nice one Jurek! I was wondering whether to make another attempt. On my return back to the bright lights (of Canning Town flyover, no less) after my failed attempt, I passed the New Docklands Steam Baths which seemed like quite the local attraction.

I'd clocked most of that Oat44 - what I hadn't expected was the moss / slime covered stone slabs in the foreground to be like a skating rink in SDPs....

What happens if the ....red stuff...... dies.. before someone tags it? Game over?

Six days to go. The 12th November will be the last day.

It'll be extended, the papers claim "a week or so" but I expect it to be there for at least another month.

If it is extended there will be nowhere to put the marquee for the seasonal parties. Can't see that contract getting breached...

It'll be extended, though quite why we're noting the start of the war so much I don't know, surely the "great date" is in 4 years time?

I love BTOB, I worked there for 2 years and never even noticed this fountain, let alone the cool history behind it :)

Indeed, there are no plaques on it that indicate its origin. I only found out by chance myself.

Old:

Smiths' water fountain, Finsbury Square. The text reads "Erected and presented to the Parish of St Luke by Thomas and Walter Smith (Tom Smith and Co) to commemorate the life of their mother, Martha Smith, 1826 - 1898".

This might not be particularly exciting but Tom Smith and Co, based on Finsbury Square until 1953, made Christmas crackers, and Tom Smith invented them.

But secretly you'd love to know what it's like, wouldn't you? What it feels like for a girl?

(Excuse the different bikes, but it turns out it's much easier to ride a steel geared bike with bigger tyres than an aluminium fixed bike with 23mm tyres when you've recently had a big titanium plate put in your elbow!).

N.b. the Oak in the new tag is 631, how fitting :)
