Have some rep for saving bike tag. Failed to get the tag, but did quite enjoy reading about the history of cricket and want to look up the CLR James book now.

Weirdly (for me) only two days ago I was looking at a 60s paperback about London with an alluring bicycletagofbike title/subject, which contains an illustration of that shop. It describes it as a 'junk' shop I think, though I remember it being being mostly clothes and furs when I was rummaging there regularly in the late 80s.
I think my next few tags will be other things from the book. It's brilliant.
Is the clr james book about cricket?

Beyond a Boundary - source of the quote "What do they know of cricket who only cricket know?" up thread.

Beyond a Boundary is one of his criket books. A classic.
(he wrote about other stuff) -

Nice one oat44
Just one thing:
It is still a furrier and costumier which opens occasionally and the owner (who lives upstairs) sits outside chatting with passers by and locals. Sunday morning it is often open which is when the farmers market runs.On this little dead-end road is:
a small really cheap Chinese grocery selling some
a local greasy spoon with outside seating
An Thai restaurant serving cheap good food in cardboard boxes
a baker
and a public loo
#
wasnt even aware that this is a full on road and I lived 5 minutes away from there for 8 months -

Well that shut you all up. More clues needed?
-
• #13162
Not sure if the clue is more specific than I think it is but there are so many Parks, Villas and Gardens, might have to do something rash like get on my bike and cycle round the area.
-
• #13163
Fairly big assumption that I'm on the right lines anyway, but the architecture fits the area.
-
• #13164
Lets just say you might find someone eating marmalade sandwiches nearby.

Bike Taggers will probably enjoy this:
http://toys.usvsth3m.com/london/I'm expecting a few high scores on here. I got 5/10 though.
-
• #13166
9/10. Not bad.
-
• #13167
It's piss easy. You can zoom around all you like and there are visible street signs etc. However, even without cheating I've had 9/10 and 10/10 scores. Only one wobbly moment in the last one, when at first I didn't recognise Essex Road, which I must have gone up and down several thousands of times.

10/10, but some of the areas are a bit dubious. Victoria is in St James?
-
• #13169
Indeed = Shaftesbury Avenue near St.James?
Hmmmm???
7/10 first time
10/10 second.
no googling. There was a game here once, wasn't there?
Just sayin' like.... ;) -

I have no idea who the lady is, but it caught my eye one day while nearby.

^^ Must spread rep, apparently, So much for keeping it in the family. I've got a pretty good idea which bit of London this is, which is the wrong bit for me for the next few days.
ooops, sorry about that. I saw it affectionately referred to as a junk shop and assumed it was old signage, what a quirky place though, look forward to popping in
