  • Only thing about the old school yard is that there is no draught beer at all- only bottles, which may not appeal to the more cost conscious of us (including me).

  • Hm, that is a drawback indeed, but if it's a convenient location for people, that may trump it.

  • Well, the old school yard is approx 300 metres from the Roebuck, and they have draught beer.

I'll be going to Brockley though I expect, but I might stop off for one on my way if people are around early enough.

  • Yeah you better, it got moved forward a week for you.

I was the smokescreen that allowed Richie to go and see some metal band.

  • Boo to no draught @ oldschoolyard. Boo to Roebuck. Boo to Sam Smiths draught beer.

Yay to Lamb. Yay to Wenlock. Yay to ale and Friday drinks. And a May, to Brockley! :)

  • Of course, the Wenlock would be great, but that's just my easterly preference.

  • Ah, now Brockley is kind of tempting as I'm stopping over in Nunhead this weekend. On the other hand I have no idea where any of these other pubs are.

Given the current weather conditions, hanging around the outside of a pub in central doesn't really hold any appeal. Anyone know how The Crown on Blackfriars Rd stacks up on a Friday night? I know it's south of the river but I seem to remember it being good on beer and offers a pretty clean shot at heading North and East afterwards. Not too bad going west once your around the embankment and out past Parliament Sq.

  • The Crown is just around the corner from my office. It's not a bad pub, although the bar staff are usually inept. Good beer normally.

  • Right - two hours before I get in transit (it's a long way from Swindon). Anything going on centrally or am I off to sunny Brockley this evening, wherever the hell they may be.

  • Hey Seldom,

I'll be starting off central, and heading south at some point, but won't be about till 18.00. Maybe with Hamsandwich.....

I think the Wenlock could be on the cards "26, Wenlock Road London N1 7TA":

Or the Lamb (94 Lambs Conduit Street,Holborn,)

Then on to Brockley (I think it's here: 330-332 Brockley Road, Brockley, London, SE4 2BT):

  • Righty ho, I'll come and join you at the Wenlock or the Lamb for around 18.00ish and ride Brockelywards with you if no other inviting prospects present themselves in the meantime.

  • Yes, what's going on? All back to Brockley or somewhere else?

I'm up for Old School Yard, Roebuck, Wenlock, whatever.

EDIT: Looks as if kisu_shimo's call is good. But still, what central pub?

Sorry, I've tried, but can't work up a preference--they've all got something going for them and something goinf against them.

  • I'd have a swifty at the Roebuck or Schoolyard if anyone is there.

  • brockley is a no go for me, old school yard or Roebuck would work though..

  • I'm out...

  • As in you're out and about?

  • I think he means he's pulling a Duncan

  • If there are signs of life at jam circus as I head past with a spare wheel on my back I might just stop off briefly.

  • Brockley is pretty easy to find. SK especially form nunhead

  • I know where Brockley is, however the last time I passed through there was more than one pub in it.

  • The pub, called Jam Circus, is opposite Crofton Park Library.

  • You coming out Tommy?

  • if you guys are at the lamb around 1800 hours i will call in for a G. not gonna go to the wenlock because i don't go to the wenlock but if brockley is on will head there later.

  • The pub, called Jam Circus, is opposite Crofton Park Library.

Cracking. Does anyone know if the footbridge between Brockley Way and Eddystone Rd is still accessible.

  • Jonny - probably going to ride down with Richie, although a quick one at the Lamb sounds good.
