Look, everyone knows the fucker did it.

Very much enjoyed watching the footage. What a rider! Less keen on the doping chat.

doping = everything else doesnt matter, you are still a doper

• #105
climbers are always the most fun to watch IMO.
I'm no cycle sport expert though, but it's what I enjoy.

Nup.. sprinters ftw
BTW Tommy I'll be away for a bit but your RAM/discs are at the office.

Sprinters? Armchair ride, then give it some welly for 200 metres.
That's why I'm a, errr, all rounder [/bullshit].

Pantani was one of my heroes, as is Ulrich, Virenque and various others who have doped or been accused of it. And you know what? I couldn't care less...
For all I care all sportspeople can dope, in the end they are still climbing those mountains, still running as fast, still throwing so far. Ben Johnson still ran the 100m in the time which wasn't beaten for 10 years.

RIP
Still the best climber I've ever seen.

Srs question please I haz no Panda memes: if Pantani's untimely demise was a cast into a classical tragedy, which story would it evoke? I know nothing of sport and racing... the drama of his life and his end is new to me.

10 year bump. I've still never seen a better climber.

Here you go then.

• #118
Nope. Still never seen a better climber.
I am wearing my king of the mountain pants today as a tribute.

Bahamontes couldn't descend for toffee anyway.
What's the point of being able to ride up a hill so well if you can't ride back down again?

Maybe you don't want any toffee?

Ironic, as Bajamontes means 'to go down a mountain' :-)

Pantani still the best. Armstrong's new truth makes his death even more sad. I remember his sad downfall; when disqualified at the Giro in the last few days while comfortably ahead in the standings. I still believe, as many do, that the bets money was behind that.

This is no more credible than people who still insist Armstrong was the best ever Tour rider. Pantani was a screwed up, desperate and unhappy man whose achievements are as tainted as those of the other cheats he rode alongside or ahead of.
His life was sad and his death tragic and sordid but there's no need to keep claiming that we know anything of his 'natural' ability. -

He was the best.
No, as I said: Pie or crumble?
