I have just finally ground my way to an ELO if over 1000 (starting from 562*). It's taken me 541 games with a 50% win rate, 45 % loss rate.

Obviously, I lost my next game and am now down to 998. Shucks.

Last call

Good work. I've been trying to battle my way to 1300. I get close and then get knocked back down to 1250. Currently on a slow upward curve again. I know I should be bolder in the quality of the person I play but I get disheartened playing people 1350+

I imagine that at about that level you need to be learning a lot more depth and range of openings?

I have a few openings that I play, that I know to about move 5 or 6, depending on the line. Also a couple of sneaky traps.

I'm expecting that quite soon I will reach a point where more study is definitely required.
