I've only just seen this. This is the third person to have died in London this year while riding a bike, and the first to have been killed in collision with a lorry.
May those close to him have much support in their grief.

Must be a misunderstanding, but is it just me who thinks this is just plain wrong?
Welcome to the internet.
Just to let you know, the forum software tries to prevent shouting, when it spots a post in all-caps it turns it into sentence case... this is why others are putting full stops in.
Unless you meant the punctuation, but that is called a "smiley" or "emoticon"... just tip your head to the left and notice that it looks like a sad face.
You see? He's saying:
Rip = Rest in PeaceAnd:
:-( = This makes me sad, I'm sad nowAnd it's a good post, because we do hope he rests in peace, and it does make us all sad.

Bad section of road, loads of cyclists and large vehicles round that way and at that time. Sad news. ride home safely everyone.
RIP.

Damn not the thread I wanted to open. I rode into Tower Bridge Road earlier, just as the Police ropened it and it was obvious there had been an accident on that corner, exactly the same corner as where I saw the aftermath of an accident involving a cyclist and a left turning cement truck maybe 8 or 10 years ago.
RIP fellow cyclist and thought and sympathies to family and friends.

having read this post this morning, i heard on the news that the road was still closed at about 1.30 today, and prayed it wasn't a fatality.
May he rest in peace. my thoughts and condolences go out to all his family and friends.

I live on Bermondsey Street and I'm not loving riding to work at the moment in the morning - there always seem to be loads of HGVs coming from the Shard site and causing massive queues. Glad I'm moving house in a couple of weeks.
Sad sad news though. RIP.

Very sorry to read the thread. Sad news indeed. This time of year (the using up of council budgets on innumerable small roadworks) is I think a particularly dangerous time on the roads, with temporary lights, incredible amounts of distracting road furniture and alternative layouts and priorities. Everyone take care.
