I thought enclosed cam QRs had better holding power than track nuts, my mistake.
I'm sure but I reckon a QR is more likely to snap than a track axle, I got buy on a halo hex skewer fine for a while, then it snapped.

Yes mig welded, without jig. But it is straight and fairly stiff. Love it.

Nah, Otherwise people would be falling all over Mont Ventoux back when bicycle have horizontal drop out.
Decent QR is plenty strong enough.
