Exactly. Seal in the rustness!
well no, give it a good check over to make sure none of the rust spots are critical which i guess they shouldn't be if it's from a track.

I don't usually get involved but thanks for the varied comments on the track frame, I know quite a few people wanted it and I just happened to get in there first, some people are a little ticked off.. I know this by some of the emails and comments I've received since I purchased it.
As a family we've restored vintage porche, ferrari, bugatti and other classic cars. Restoring isn't always slapping on new paint. I appreciate that this frame is a original pedigree track frame from one of the world's most famous departed velodromes.
My plans for this frame are to sympathetically restore. I've started by checking all the tubes internally and giving it a thorough clean plus checking threads and frame alignment. Once I'm 100% happy I will use 2000 grit paper to remove a very thin layer of lacquer and build up a satin lacquer with 2 coats. You won't even be able to tell this frame has been lacquered but it'll be good for another 50 years or so.
Letting the frame 'age gracefully' by doing nothing would probably deem this frame useless in under 5 years and if it was locked up and used as a beater even less. My restoration techniques and inspections will make this a perfect frame for trashing around on a track for years to come, complete with original rust, scratches, marks and chips.

If it's from Leicester track it's bound to be well looked after...

That barry bond will be such a sick rust rocket when done. My dad has a fair few pics of the leicester velodrome when it was in use. Will try get them on a computer and uploaded in a suitable thread :D

cockpit suck other than that don't see much problems

Halflink chain, saddle angle and the fork looks pretty wrong on there too.
The cockpit is just impossible to get over though, why do people cut their bars like that?

Pretty much exactly how I'm rebuilding my ratty Mongoose IBOC. Except I have a Flite and Oury's.

• #9094
Is that not a flite of some sort?

Either way, looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. It has the potential to be great!

According to a bit of reverse image searching using Google, the saddle is a Selle Italia Titanium. So same make as a Flite, but looks like a slightly different shape? The nose isn't as pronounced.
I'm kind of feeling the hi-vis brake cable outers on that KHS too. I might steal that idea.
Anyway, hopefully I'll finish mine soon. I hate waiting for parts in the mail / waiting for ordered parts to come in.
