Hideous is not a reason to change a part on a rat
I hear what you're saying and I sort of agree, but there is still an asthetical pleasure in rat look and MY bike needs to please MY eyes. Of course nothing beats the real deal shed find, but that's not what I bought unfortunately. So choice parts are fair enough if they tie in with the overall theme imo. I think vintage bikes deserve vintage parts so that where I'll go with it.

Keep meaning to sort my rat out, headset is reaalllly weird, creaks like a horror film door sometimes. But I love it so much, riding beautifully and sorts out sweating about locking up all day or wherever.
The other day I was leaving a job late evening, pulled up next to one of those rickshaw dudes.
He started hassling me saying 'I can't believe you ride that bike, you must ne so embarrassed...' really banging on. I couldn't really decide whether he was just taking the piss or actually seriously telling me to get a better bike. Whilst sitting on a fucking sketchy looking rickshaw.
Funny moment really, but I was too tired to have much humour about it, so I was like 'no, not embarrassed, I hadn't really thought of that ...'
Anyone else had any actual beater-abuse?

had a few comments from roadies about how it looks like i don't look after my bike, in a pretty patronising way
-
• #5523
I've had a bit of abuse for not fitting a front brake to my shit-weather bike

^the rack's on laner's fuji.... any pics of that?
-

I had someone on the train tell me how shitty looking my fuji was, all covered in road crap and scratches and stuff, he shut up when I asked him why he was getting a train for a 5 mile journey with his chodie roadie carbon deal.
Rats are never perfect, thats the great thing...
