surely grime that thick could be damaging his frame and at the very least, reducing the life-span of his parts?

Grime like that is easily done on slushy roads i think.

aren't a lot of these just muddy track bikes? I have a track bike, i've been riding it the last few weeks. its muddy as ****. covered in black road crap. but when i clean it, its not ratty at all.

tried it just the other day.
clocked mine had a crack so figured i might as well strip it see how bad the crack was and maybe fix it.
looked like a crappy old skool racing bmx saddle, i'll find the pics
