just though i would post my beloved -sort of- frankenbike.
A quick list of the slightly unusual things about my bike.
V-brakes, 8 speed strumey archer xrf8 with twist shifter rammed up the top of the drop bars, 36 hole hub laced onto a 32 hole rim, early 2000's ribble time trial bike i picked up for a tenner (some how), 1 inch ahead cycloX forks, campag scirocco g3 front wheel dented to hell, home made derailleur hanger i made for a chain tensioner but turned out the ring on the sturmey was too big so now i just experiment with different chains the get the tension right. -

Speaking from ignorance here.
Does the the bike above have 2 freewheels working in opposite directions therefore acting a bit like fixed but with a different ratio for braking?
A bit confused.

Pedal forwards for high gear, backwards for low.
Each sprocket acts as a driven gear in one direction and idler in the other. Clever if you can pedal backwards to good effect ...

I think it's a Hirondelle design? (Waits for anyone who knows better to pitch in)
I'm pretty sure I've read about someone on here building one: here’s the link now I know to use "retro direct" as the search term

http://www.frankb.us/gears/ has a bit more. -

Front/back brakes?

^^ Easier to jump on and ride without straps. Even straps like holdfasts can mark shoes.

not so wealth. such frames are sold for 50-70 € in russia. they are rather bad because where are a lot of problems with headsets and bottom brackets. it's my first fixie, so i decided not to spend a lot of money. it cost me ~325 €
i think it's quite cheap and good

There's a bike like that in the cafe at the top of the Tourmalet. Had us scratching our heads for a while until it was explained.
