Have you forgot to read the rest of the title? Pub Bikes Beaters! Frankenbikes!
-
• #4828
Well it's not a frankenbike.
SPDs and no brakes make it a poor pub bike unless the owner lives a long way from the nearest pub, somewhere with little traffic. That doesn't seem to match the background. To me it looks like a cheap track bike with flat bars added.
What makes it belong here?

...Beater?

Hardly.

Its a cool bike, just leave it...

I love all the arguments about whether something belongs here or not... While other threads go completely off subject for many pages, here there are arguments about if a bike is crappy enough.

Man, you must be using a screen at least 30 inches diagonally.
That or Horatio's got the team ENHANCE!ing it for you.

whats wrong with SPDs and no brakes?

On a pub bike? How seriously do you take your drinking and how accurate are your leg movements when applying epic torque?

This is how half the people at East's turn up, you must be going to the wrong pubs.

Unfortunatley my legs are the last that goes when I'm drunk. First to leave is common sense, then speach, sight and then the hearing.. My legs soldier on though, dead set on getting me into trouble.. Damn you legs!

When I rode brakless it made the perfect pub bike, no confusing brakes to control.
Also I tend to ride slower when brakless and I should ride slower when drunk, so it works out.
Also the knowledge that someone stealing the bike is prob going to find it difficult to ride home is a bonus.
My current pub bike (other than the polo bike) has bars that rotate, which would be quite exciting for a thief i would imagine.

Frankly if it's a pub bike, I doubt you'd can it as you would your normal bike, plus low maintenance is a win.
Having said that, I'd just put coaster hubs on it.

Coaster brake + drunk = falling arse over tit?
-
• #4850
Tell that to the Clunker Classic. Alcohol + Coaster Brakes + Off Road + Adrenaline...
In the context of these "bike category" threads, that was yet another example of a tSR post which barely qualified for the thread.
So to clarify: not particularly ratty.
