I really like the pinky chainring on this. How dya reckon it got like that?
-

that green one is not rat, it's just anti. At best it's just a random collection of parts...
gotta draw the line somewhere.
The green one is someones beater (http://www.flickr.com/photos/markcosio/2789674371/in/faves-63129224@N07/), hence why it's in the beaters thread.

can't really argue with that but can still disagree

Tell me how, that random collection of expensive parts is in any way a beater?

the saddle alone costs more than Somewhere slowlys bike.

I'm saying, that green bike is not a beater.
Nowhere fast want me to post something better, so I post my first build, which all in cost less than the saddle on the green bike...
do you see my point?

But to the owner the green bike is his beater. There's pictures of Colnagos, Nagasawas and Samsons all being used as everyday workhorses. What makes a beater/rat is how it is used not necessarily how cheap it is.

+1 Absolutely.
The green frame is a cheap from mail order. Parts such as the front wheel and saddle may have once (to someone) been expensive, but they are spare parts – parts without a use.
After only 4 years riding bikes I've got spare everything. Wheels, forks, frames, you name it. Some of it could be called 'expensive'. Yes I sell stuff on, but you hang on to some parts for a bit. It's what happens. You build beaters out of this stuff.
Your fucking unicorn bike is Supreme in it's own special way Malaysian. But if that''s your contribution to the thread, best hold off on useless negative comments.

Enough fucking politics.
If you don't like what someone has posted then go have a cry-wank about it elsewhere.
Lets not let this thread become the opinion-fest that Porn and Anti-Porn have. -

Yes.
I didn't want to post but Malaysian just needs telling.

Except now you have to not be a cock for a few posts.
We'll see how that goes.

One statement that might get rid of the debate:
There should be a thread dedicated to rat bikes so that I don't have to see these "beaters." If I wanted to look at shit bikes I'd look at everything locked up on campus.
everything bmxed has posted is excellent.

I read this thread for the well worn and loved canondales, vivalos, colnagos, yamaguchis etc...
beautiful bikes with stories to tell.
that green thing just offends me.
*to add to that, I also like things like scobles theft proof shopper and the vine bike...

Photo doesn't do all the wear justice really. Has had a makeover more recently which made it a little less ratty.. also took off the spokie dokies as my mate refused to ride with me until they came off.
will get some closeups of her battle wounds some other time...
