  • Definitely not a rat, just a Charge Plug frame with a load of brand new stickers on it. Even the stickers are shiny as hell.

  • It could be a beater though, reading the entire title of the thread would help aswell ;)

  • yeah sorry, it's my beater. It's not a rat, it's about a year n a half old for me and the blokey I bought it off had it for 4 months. It does about 20-40 miles a day depending on where I have to be for work. Not all the stickers are new, just that layer. The others I stuck on it from the start were coming off so I upgraded the theft-proofing. The front end of it is a bit more shiny though cause I got ploughed into by a van a couple of months back and obliterated the original wheel and brake and snapped the forks. I'm intending to match the rear wheel sometime this summer. Thanks for the yuck daylight, means my theft-proofing is working!

  • Is that you in the background?

  • Theft proof stickers?

Most stupid thing I have ever heard

  • yeah I can take photos using my freakishly long arms...

well daylight, you clearly don't wanna steal it...

  • Yeay, post bags. Best bags ever to carry far too much.
Just carried an old heavy tft over 30 km back home.
    Now I'm tired.

    Did you see mine?

Extra strap makes an unbelievable difference....

A thief isn't going to think 'oh, it's stickered. I won't steal that'
They'll just see a quick way to get home/job centre and sell it for a score

  • ^okay i know this is rat thread, but why the fuck do they have so fucking retarded seatpost clamps.

    Possibly rental bikes.

I've seen that before on another post bag. It works having just the one strap, when kept extremely short, where I almost strangle my self throwing it over my head. But one strap alone doesn't prevent it from slipping over your shoulder should you brake very hard..

Anyway, I don't use it regularly, as I've got another - smaller - bag, so that I don't have enough space to make it too heavy, that easily.
Guess it's because I've got long distances to travel and heavy bags will eventually work me down.

  • Only really expensive Jap bikes can qualify as rat bikes.

actually in love with this bike

I thought it was at first, I found one strap is definitely not enough if you carry any sort of weight, it's not just uncomfortable, but if you're riding fast (on fixed this is...) the bag is all over the place which can be pretty terrifying....

The strap turns an uncomfortable, unwieldy bag that was a bugger to carry, into something very usable and comfortable. It's actually pretty comfortable now even over longer distances, much less noticeable...

Yeah, I saw a long while back someone here had modified one, I prefer back packs really but can't carry one at the minute cos of the screws in my left shoulder...

  • Do Linnells come with the padding on the strap and back already fitted or was that part of your modifications?

  • Part of his modification. The strap(s). But I do wonder where the extra padding came from.
Mine isn't, and it's falling to bits too.
Anyway, I do agree an extra strap sorts out loads of dangers (it gets very interesting trying to hold a heavy bag falling to the side and you can't coast, almost literally knocking yourself off and make yourself look like a tool trying to ride for the first time without a sense for balance ;) and uncomfy issues.

But, it's my bulky bag for not every day demands.

Just had to google Linnells, as mine was a Royal Mail one a mate sorted me out... It had a padded strap and thin padding to the back as it came. The mods were, the cross strap - webbing along the back of the strap pad to make the cross strap adjustable - lock holster on the front & reinforced X stitches to various areas (strangely, had an old post bag and compared to the new one, it had considerably better stitching. the new one didn't even have X stitches where the strap joined the pad...

If you're underwhelmed by my knowledge of sewing technical terms, the modifications were done by my friend Nate from www.restrap.co.uk

  • Lets get this back on track.

    Rat scorpion?

  • ^ I wanna see pics/video of someone riding that!

  • pictures of the yellow tall bike built? looks ace.

    and rode it away?

  • i guess they rode it away. wish i could have seen it. not an easy thing to ride away on a first try.

@ apolloxl... a tall bike is a franken bike.

  • King of the frankenbikes - The rinky dink pedal-powered soundsystem - a common feature on walcot street (Bath) back in the 90's - presumably it's still around.
