Yeah it works. It's horribly spongy. I went from fixed and to SS and had to chuck it on in 10 mins before work. Haha you have shamed me into sorting it right now.
@monkdagola yeeya Somas are tough ! I think I'm the only messenger not rocking a cetma. I hate the clamps.

So, back in highschool, I had an EighthInch Scrambler - a premium mass produced entry to mid level frameset. Long story short, I cracked it, and being a poor highschool student, I asked if they could replace it. They gave me a deal, and I upgraded to this frame, the Butcher, a FGFS frameset with BMX dropouts and bottom bracket.
I didn't really think it through, as I had planned to transfer my English BB over, yadda yadda. I basically kludged together the whole bike, and it was cool (and beefy) but it sucked, and looked awkward. My chainline was off, so the chain always broke, BB shimed with hose clamp ribbons cause I had the wrong size bearings, etc. I built up another bike and started riding that and the Butcher sat.
Then, a year and a half ago, I decided to blow the dust off it and give it the love it deserved. I decided to slowly order parts, and build it up correctly. I ended up buying almost all the parts and building it up a lot faster than planned.
Fork- LDG tank fork (super cool, very very beefy, square tubing dopeness)
Bars- some bars that were ordered to the shop I worked at and then abandoned, likely cause they were BMX sized clamp diameter instead of MTB size - but perfect for the BMX stem I had picked up for it! With obligatory pink ourys
Seatpost, headset, seat clamp, all came with the bike
I picked up the cheapest 165mm BMX cranks I could find on Dan's comp, paired with a neat looking 45t chainring also from Dan's, and mated to a 16t cog in the back. KMC chain
Pedals and seat from the parts bin, rocking the neon green double-strap toe cages! Yeah, the seat is fucked up, but this bike is about not giving any fucks, so... Fuck it. (I do have a bright pink seat I might put on though)
Wheels - the Eighthinch hubs designed for this frame with the 14mm BMX axle, mated to 26" Sunringle MTX 33 rims, DT swiss spokes, built by me!! My first (and only, for now) wheel build! They're SOLID. The front tire had an issue on the sidewall, looks like someone jammed it into a rock, hard. But, it was in the free shit bin at work, and I love it. The back tire is basically the same tire on almost every entry level mountain bike, you can't be picky about rear tires when you skid fer dayz.
The starnut kinda fell out a few months after I built it up, cause I had gotten the starnut out of a different fork... But, I have a bamboo spacer to make up for it. Also the nutpad, which is just pipe insulation with an ever changing sticker battle
This thing went from an awkward 'please kill me' mistake to a serious on/off road tank. The gear ratio is just right, and I can shred with the best of them offroad, as long as there aren't too many crazy hills. Rocks, streams, cliffs, curbs, you name it-this thing really does take it all. I abuse the fuck out of it. Barspins & wheelies for days, too.
It's kind of my do it all around, do it all bike, something I can thrash and not have to worry about. I could probably fix it up a bit more, but it leads a life devoid of fucks. -

Does the rear brake even work all coiled up like that?
