£16 sound not too much. postage is free for UK, possibly somone could buy here and post cheaper.

whereabouts are you in portugal?

@rincewind: it is too much! it's cool if you buy lots of parts cause it doesnt increase...I could buy 20 hubs and would still pay 16pounds to have it posted but its a bit too much when you're buying a 30pounds and 300grs hub!
@d-goods: I'm in aveiro (below oporto) or lisbon.

what I mean is that there not going to make all that much money off £16 if they use good packing and insured tracked mail. quality wise i cant say wether there worth twice as much as the other on-ones, but they cerainly look nicer. Im ordering some today and ill find out, if they are shit Ill just have to return them, but cant imagine them being anything less than uncut formulas with a lighter axel, but cheaper bearings and bolts.

when you get them please let us know how they are. they certainly look great on that photo!
I wasnt saying they're charging 16pounds to make a little extra money, because it's a fixed postage for whatever quantity you choose to buy. I'm saying that, if someone, like myself, is interested in getting just one hub, those 16pounds will make a difference! and I just received a set of steel forks, from the uk, in great packaging well protected and tracked for 12.5pounds...and they must weight 4 times more

Yes.
Many couriers charge by the box.
Its probably £16 for a big box, so one or 10 hubs is the same cost. They don't do seperate rates for tiny boxes usualy. We have that at work for UPS. 1 rim or 15 rims cost the same. -

I understand that and it makes sense when you're a distributor, but if they have an online shop like chanreaction or wiggle they should take that into consideration, not everyone is gonna buy bulk. they do have a minimum buy of 14.99pounds but it's still less than the minimum postage!
I, from now on, hate on-one/planet-x. thank you.

The point is its not their choice. Its the shipping companies.

• #62
well, ok. if I was in charge though, I'd work with royal-f-mail for small orders.

amen to that bruvva.
Me too. -

yes ill let you know, mabye post some shiney pics aswell. as said above, postage to portugal isnt going to be cheap at any UK shop, its just the way it is. The only way to get around it is to buy from somewere in portugal.

I have just bought a tyre from CRC and postage was 5euros. it's a lot harder to package and post a 700cx32 tyre than a hub, right?

this thread is great. I only wanted some hubs, specific hubs in fact, and now I have some sort of (no)optional paralysis and don't think i even want hubs anymore. In fact, i might just go back to mountain or road bikes. In fact, fuck it, i'm just riding motorbikes now. I've never given the hubs on those a second thought.
ctually, I am now thinking i may need to go to 32 rather than 36 to get a formula hub with no cutout. To make up for the lack of spokes v my 100kg ass i'll need to get a good stiff hipster hoop now. Anyone got a silver H + son they want to sell? This place is like some sort of hipster fabrication unit I tell you.

Here comes the rIm and postage cost arguments...
H+son suck, you'll just taco the rim with you 100kg ass. cant get the hubs you want and the rims you want arnt hipster or strong enough. You need:

ahaha no man, I'm keeping my primato/cxp-12 wheelset;) I'm looking for a new all black wheelset and I really liked the planet-x hubs but postage is a btch
