I went to Angel Comedy at the Camden Head in Islington again on Saturday. It's free and always worth it even though the quality is variable.
This time among others Daniel Simonsen and Glenn Moore played, and they were both great.
I'd definitely recommend it for comedy fans. Even if it's shit it's still free, and there's been at least one great act every time I've been.

my personal favourite stand up is Dylan Moran
though he doesnt get nearly enough air time
and since they banned him drinking and smomking on stage his act has decreased, but the man is hilarious stillOh fuck how have I missed this??
Have watched both this
Dylan Moran - New York Part 1 - YouTube
and this
Dylan Moran - Like, Totally - YouTube
yesterday evening - and that was the best standup I've seen in a really long time!*
Why have they banned him smoking and drinking??
*..oh, also watched some Dave Chapelle the other day which was also very good in a way, but not as much class as Moran...

I did a few fringe shows with Daniel when he was 16 - compered him one night where he had an absolute shocker of a gig in front of about 12 disinterested tourists
look at the fucker now!

^ Thanks for the heads-up. It was enjoyable even though he seemed overweight and moribund.

Watching that now, good stuff.

Was anyone at Monty Python last night? If so, what time did they take the stage? I'm going to be pushed to get there on time this evening.

last nights Stewart Lee I thought was brilliant

Didn't even know this thread existed!
Been watching a lot of Stewart Lee recently, as well as a load of stuff on YouTube; Seinfeld, Steve Harvey, Trevor Noah (who also recently replaced Jon Stewart), and Garry Shandling after his passing the other day. His first bit on Carson about free pens at the bank is great.

Not sure if it constitutes pure comedy as such, but I'll be reading my stories at The Rutland Arms on the 19th May, kick off 8pm. If it works I'm hoping to get down to that there London in the very near future. If you're oop North pop in and say hi.

Seeing Bill Burr and Louis CK in the next two weeks. Fuck yeah!
-
• #296
seeing Louis CK tonight... can't wait!

• #297
Went last night, it was excellent

I too am going tonight. My wife bought me tickets for my birthday. I was unaware that he was doing anything other than arena size gigs so I'm made up. I get a bit flighty and nervous before comedy gigs even as an audience member and having never seen him in the flesh I'm trying not to get too wound up.

many lolz

Some lolz. I thought CK was good, but not great. Possibly I'd built him up and expected too much, the stuff about christianity and the year 3 was awesome, some of the suicide stuff made me laugh, but how many suicide gags does a set really need? It was over too quick, maybe that was because I was sat so close.
What was with the suit?
There's been some kind of comedy book fest in Ealing all week. Of course, I missed it all.
