  • I sincerely hope that no one has posted on this before as I've searched my arse off on google with little success, hopefully someone can help me out/point out if I've missed something.

What I'm looking for is a fairly strong 36h black anodised rim that isn't a deep section and doesn't have a silver braking surface, so it's all black.
I've been looking mainly at touring rims but not had much luck. I think there is an open pro cd all black rim but it's pretty pricey. DT swiss also do an all black touring rim but it's even more expensive and 32h.
I suppose if there isn't anything cheaper then I'll go for the open pro cd's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot,

    Angus

  • I'm looking for something similar to closely match a Campagnolo Omega, but with a braking surface. So far all I can come up with is Open Pro CD. Let me know what you go for in the end!

EDIT: Wolber GTX2, if you can find any.

  • Will do man. I don't mind if it's got a braking surface or not, I assume almost all will though. Pad says hello by the way

  • Google doesn't like Wolber GTX2 36h one bit.

  • Is Captain Jones there? Haha. Tell him to ring me in the week and we can hold hands.

    Ouch.

  • Open Pro cd was all i could find when i was looking for this same thing a couple months ago.
I went with them and am well happy, solid as.

  • Did you find anywhere that sold them at a competitive price?

    Ouch.

Might go for these, cheaper than what I can find for anything else

  • mavic a317 disc rims.

  • Velocity Aerohead? Or are they too deep?

  • mavic a317 disc rims.

    Cheers Joao,

Having a bit of trouble finding anywhere that stocks em

Cheers Moog, looks like they've got a silver braking surface though

  • I ordered black ones a few weeks ago and they are totally black.

edit: I just realised that it's only the 48h version that doesn't have machined side walls.

  • Bugger, thought my search might have been over before your quick edit

  • Cheers Joao,

I picked up a pair from Parker International last summer. Not sure if they still have them in stock though.

Chainreactions - only 36h in stock... but if you want strong...

    What about 29er rims? - Mavic TN719 @ £45 - seems to be recomended.

  • If you dont need a braking surface then Velocity VXC are nice.

  • Sorry don't mean to derail, does anywhere in the UK stocks Velocity Aero's ?

  • BLB are the official UK importers for Velocity. I don't know if they import anything more than brightly coloured Deep Vs though.

  • Cheers - I thought that would be the ans.... I'll give them a call.

[appoligies for the derail. Pls carry on]

  • Quite a large choice of disc 29er rims which are still light (as intended for XC). Afew mentioned above.

They do look bulkier than road rims though but good if you plan to run a wider tyre or fancy something a bit burlier.

  • sorry, I forgot to post the link to CRC. too bad they only have silver in 36h..they look good though.
