  • registration opens at 10 am!

    already full thou..?

  • yes, all 400 spots were filled by 11 am.

  • not a t-shirt; but probably silkscreened posters.

I personally would love to see this on a tea towel.

  • oooh. good idea...

  • I think there's going to be a deluge of disappointed "didn't make the cut" posts.
    May I be the first.

  • I predict a deluge of Tweed Run places for sale on eBay..

    You may.
Meh... all about being on the first one.
posts tweed on ebay for loadsamoney

  • coppi, nothing but ginger wine, warming, sweet and oh so tasty.

sounds like a good idea, might need to have another flask or carry ginger wine in the bottle so its enough for sharing.

all the places taken already .......... that's crazy when you think about it. i thought that it would trickle along and the list would be filled after three or so days.

is there going to be a reserve list of some kind, given that there will be alot of bailers on or approaching the day? it would be a pity that people that really want to take part are unable to get the full tweed run experience.

  • How exactly is the event going to be limited to 400? You can't stop people cycling on public streets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this 400 only rubbish was to satisfy the authorities. I didn't get a place due to being at work, but I'll be there.

  • Reserve List Please

  • Gutted. I can appreciate that there isn't a huge amount that anyone can do, and that this is due to impositions by the authorities on numbers, but still - basically anyone who wasn't up and at a computer early on Saturday morning is thus not allowed to participate in what is surely a public ride, on public streets.

I don't even have internet at home, so couldn't attempt to register until I got to a uni computer - the library only opens at 11am anyway. And now I can't be part of something that I had hoped to be able to say I was proudly part of every year since it started.

    Rant over.

    reserve list place #3 please.

  • You forgot me Andy, you turd.

  • why do you need to be on the reserve list if you're going to crash the party anyway Dirty Harry?

  • To cover all the bases. No need to be snotty.

  • yes, all 400 spots were filled by 11 am.

    wtf?
I was at a bike event, this sucks...............

  • To cover all the bases. No need to be snotty.

As far as I'm aware, I wasn't being snotty.

Just seemed a bit odd to me.

  • right. so this morning was a bit mad. i hadn't at all expected that.

i have dozens and dozen and dozens of emails in my inbox from people who didn't get on the ride, most with pretty heart-felt stories (one couple have already booked flights to come; one group of people celebrating a birthday where the birthday person didn't get on; lots and lots of people who've already spent money on bikes and outfits, a few good mates of mine who didn't manage to register...).

unfortunately, my hands are a bit tied by both our events permits and our insurance. in order to increase the numbers we would have to pay for the next level up of licenses, permits, etc, which we cannot afford. we've also already costed out things for only 400 and can't afford any more. and the final venue only holds 400.

that said, it is a real shame that some people who wanted to come on the event can't. i'm going to send out an email closer to the event asking if anyone who has registered doesn't want their spots. we'll then open up registration to fill up any spots we get back (same thing, open registration until it fills up, you'll have to be on the computer when it opens up and try your luck). we'll also be releasing a couple of pairs of tickets that i've held back as prizes in both online and print media contests. i'll keep you informed about that.

apologies to everyone who wasn't able to register this morning.

  • Just one of these things I suppose. I'm not angry, just disappointed, as my mother would say.

  • do you get e mailled if you are in? as I get told my address is registered but no confirmation

  • yes, you should have gotten an email. check your spam box. you've already been told that you're on the registered list, edric.

  • Shit, too late add me to reserve list please

  • **There is no reserve list.

**Post #68 explains there'll be open registration later when drop-outs are confirmed.

  • How will the numbers be policed?

  • I suspect a few officers will be present as well as some reps from the local authorities who have issued permits who will assess the number of people riding. If far too many people turn up and include themselves in the ride then I suspect that Teddy will be fined and prohibited from running the event in the future. Ultimately the ride needs to be self-policed.

Lots of people turning up in Tweed and saying, oh but I just happened to be in the area probably won't wash.
