  • trite answer is, it depends what you want altered.

  • got packs from two n fro yesterday, lots still there.

If you want to get hold of them to check anything i recommend the mobile number, as they do not (in my experience) answer or call back messages on the landline, and the email address on their website just bounces back as undeliverable, so I had problems trying to find out from them when they were open (I wanted to check their easter opening before i headed down).

FYI - when I was there, they told me they are now open every day (including today and tomorrow) 11 till 7, so not just by appointment only during the week.

  • yer i heard about that. i have to make an appointment to get my pack???

  • yer i heard about that. i have to make an appointment to get my pack???

What I meant was that the available information implies that there are certain limitations on when you can collect, whereas in fact they are pretty much open all the time. If you do want to contact them to check opening times you should only expect to get hold of someone by calling the mobile number, so don't bother with the landline, answering machine, or email.

  • my plus fours are a bit big in the waist.

  • Do I need a lock for the Tweed Run? Out in the sticks I just normally leave my bike outside the pub unlocked - I hear some places people actualy steal bicyles... Or did I read there was "valet parking" at the end?

I'm only taking a cable lock as its light in my bag. Figured I won't leave my bike and the last venue has places for us to put our bikes.

  • the last venue has places for us to put our bikes.

    Thanks - that's what I thought I heard

  • Still going to bring the D-lock with me. The last venue isn't an all nighter and I'll probably be heading on after that so will want to secure it to something properly.

  • Anyone from the East; riding to Tweed, up for meeting at the same venue as last year.
The Prince Arthur, Forest Road, Hackney

  • Sorry if this has already been answered, but what time does the ride arrive at final destination? I have an evening commitment, and I need to know whether I can make the ride or not.

    ta

  • ^ the ETA is 4pm I think, then there's an 'after-party' till 7pm

  • Once again I've failed to lay my hands on some tweed in time for the weekend and have no money so if it doesn't offend anyone too much I'll be in moleskins and wool. Plus smelly old barbour if the weather demands it.
One day I'll be the shooter not the beater....
doffs cap to the gentry on here

Very impressed with the pack from Bobbins, good work Teddy and Jacqui. One slightly lame question though, will there be a small spoke card to commemorate the ride to go with the original and xmas cards? Sad, aren't I?

  • do people in tweed where top hats?
coz im yet to get a flat cap, and my top hat is eyeing me up from across the room

  • top hats are evening wear my dear boy..

  • I'm getting REALLY excited now!

Just been out hunting for some gloves to finish off the outfit, but I've had no luck. Did manage to pick up a leather bag though, which should look a bit more in keeping than my bagaboo.

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

  • top hats .............false............. boy..

twas dependent on how posh you were.

  • personally I'd only wear a topper with white tie.

  • ^^ and black shirt, double breasted broad pinstripe suit, spectator shoes and carrying a violin case :-)

  • That would be a good look. On the bonus side you could keep your tyre levers and spare tube under your hat. Spats would be required though. They do some made of recycled sails at twoand fro where I picked up my pack today. As for Saturday would it be fine for Mrs. Humanist to join us at the end of the run? She promises to look the part.

I like the sound of this. A smarter type of "gangsta" is what the City needs.....

  • Anybody heading down from Norwich or Cambridge on Saturday morning.

I will be on the train at Cambridge Railway Station at 09.27 or 10.27 heading onwards to Liverpool Street in the East arriving at 10.43 or 11.43 respectively. (Apparently engineering works into and out of Kings Cross mean bus transfer so cannot take bike on the bus).

Look out for me - I'll be wearing a Harris tweed jacket and with a vintage Claude Butler!!!!

Final decision on times depending on ride starting times.

    Toodle Pip.

  • What ever you do, don't try the stuff in the Tweed pack that claims to be Snuff...

Shit just fucked me up good and proper!

  • Do we know any more about the supervised bike parking at the end of the run?
Could Teddy perhaps clarify whether we will need locks for the parking, since locks make an unsightly bulge in one's plusses, and it would be absolutely marvellous if we didn't have to be so inconvenienced. Thanks.
