  • Anybody know what the welds look like on the leader? - tidy or average?

Also the Steamroller is £100 or so more isn't it?

  • You get a fork with the Steamroller.

I had a good look at the Leader yesterday and the welds look very tidy indeed.

  • What size cutter are you getting?

The starfuckers fork has a shorter axle to crown than the fu-manchu fork for the cutter.

So if you end up wanting to do tricks you haven't really got the clearance you want unless its a 56.

be careful on size with the cutter as well. i'm 5ft 11" and i ended up with a 53 which fits well.

It's a 56, but the Starfuckers have two mounting points for the front axel - one with zero rake. I'm also 5'11", so maybe a 53 would be better?

Out of interest, what gearing are you running? Do you commute on your Cutter? And can you do tricks that would break other frames?

  • The Volume cutter is not the most hardcore tricks frame out there. Its not even a thorough-bred trick frame. Its nice but heavy as sin.

I'm intrigued how you are going to be able to get either on the cyclescheme budget though.

+1 to that i'm 5'11 and I got the 56cm and it's a bit big for me, although I used to ride a 57cm road conversion which was fine. To answer your original question i'd go for the cutter, you can always but bullhorns/drops on it for when you're not 'tricking' and run 28c/32c tyres which could work both ways.

  • I would get a shoper. More your style.

I've got this bad boy stored away in the garage at the moment, lots of fun!

We've got kind of a weird setup here and I only need a frame / fork / crank, not the whole lot.

Might look / feel a bit funny with chrome Starfuckers and drops.

it sound like the cutter have a longer than usual top tube in order to be used with a very short (50mm-ish) stem.

Fair enough, well I ride a 56 cutter with risers and 32c tyres and handsome dog forks and I commute about 7miles to and from work most days, granted it would be alot more comfortable with drops/bullhorns or even gears, but it's never been a problem. Get a cutter!

cutterframes are not that heavy, and there is a lifetime warranty on the frame and fork

  • FBM sword with matching forks in any colour with all black modern components.

I'm almost at this point, only a few more silver bits to swap out for black ones.
Finding rims a tough one at the moment though

  • Good lad!

  • What? no trick or treat reference?

    the forum are slow today.

  • I've found a couple that would be exactly how I would build them (except for chrome Nitto drops that I would put on the Leader):

EDIT - sorted out the pics.

  • by the way ben I meant to say at norths the other night that if yr planning on pimping the polo bike for tricks I have a random selection of trash-tastic components that would suit such a project...going cheap cheap.

  • The cutter is setup pretty much how mine is, only I have slightly smaller gearing and bigger tyres.

Talk to me! I need a 1" threaded straight fork the most. Obviously it will need to accept punishment.
