Probably too late, I imagine Ed is out on the bike by now but good luck!
If Strava is anything to go by it'll be a doddle and a good time too!

Hello guys,
I'm starting triathlon and would be pleased to train with some people from LFGSS. I ran my first tri in Dartford in june (Olympic), and I'm looking for some other events (if it is still possible to register).

4:54:32. Very happy, realised by the end of the bike I'd have to have a disaster not to go sub 5, so stopped for the loo twice to be comfortable, need to have a bike fit, as my current position is not comfortable, and I only really managed to get decent power down by sitting up...

1.36Were the rough splits, not sure how I feel about 70.3s, lots of room for improvement on the bike and I think I could have gone a fair bit quicker on the run had I been motivated to do so!

Strong performance - well done.

Great times! I'm being lazy but what's the swim distance? 3000m?

Subscribe to this threadYou could join your local tri club? Where are you based in London?
This thread doesn't see a lot of action so I'm not sure how much tri-training Lufguss puts in as a community :)

Have a look here, a decent club will let you attend a couple of sessions before you join to get a feel for the quality, level and type of people, but bear in mind there are dicks in every club and sometimes the ones who are most willing to be friendly are the biggest dicks!

I just got my spot in Roth for next year. Stoked!

^good man, hope your winter training will bear fruit

Nice!
I started planning next year last week in order to get over the blues that ironman training is coming to an end but if I'm honest I now can't wait, this weekend was so hard both mentally and physically, getting up before 6am both days and doing a 4k swim and 2.5 hour run on Sunday fuelled on nothing but gels as I didn't have time to eat has me at the end of my tether with abusing myself.
6 more days with a minimum 2xsessions per day before a recovery week when hopefully I can recharge my batteries then the final push.

sounds like you're sticking to your plan pretty religiously there! i must admit to doing it more on feel rather than anything. depends on how seriously you want to take it i guess.

It's more that I'd agreed to do the run session with other people and combined with bray lake only being open until 9am meant I had to do my swim first!
I've found for most of the programme that I've been able to keep on top of it, I don't think I got enough time to recover from the half ironman I did before pushing again...
-
• #819
yes you did put in a a punchy performance with the half. sure that would have depleted the reserves somewhat. i could probably stick to a programme a bit better if i didn't have to start work at 7am!

i finished ironman zurich yesterday but not a good time.
i became ill on the bike leg so i could not take on enough food and drink.
i inevitably bonked on the run leg.
so i am ironman 2014 - but only just.
good luck to all the others doing triathlon.

Don't beat yourself up - the course and the conditions have done that already. Well done.

Congrats somebody^^. Getting over the line is the goal, everything else is a bonus.

I really enjoyed my first Sprint tri last Saturday. I was the only one sans wetsuit, which definitely liked.
The sea was so warm there really was no need, unless you really are shit at swimming. My T2 was 01:21. So...elastic laces - Talk to me. What do I buy?
-
• #824
I like lock laces, they haven't let me down yet...
I haven't tried anything else though...
-
• #825
Also I'm over 2 minutes quicker over 1500m in a wetsuit, it's not just about warmth!
Over a sprint though you do have to account for the extra time to take the thing off vs no wetsuit, but I'm pretty sure it takes me less than a minute!
Lucked out with the weather!!!
Good luck ed, you'll smash it.
