So I bought myself an early Christmas present, a Felt DA from a few years ago, along with some Zipp 404's. This basically means I'll be signing up for a couple of 70.3's in 2016. I'd love to do IM distance, but with 2 children under 3 I don't have the time to dedicate to it right now. Fitting in marathon training for Spring is hard enough.

awesomes!
duathlon was a laugh today, i only lost 3 places on the bike, a few learning for 2 weeks time in that i was chatting to a friend when the gun went so had to fight my way through the field in the first km and im more confident of my abilities.
overtook one dude with a fork that was upside down and had 'lectric gears which was a bit fancy, and in fairness he was pulling away on the flat and trickier bits it was only in a long long non technical climb that i pulled him back and then into a headwind pulled away..

I can only imagine. A few 70.3s will keep you going though, and the children will get older and IMs will still be there.

70.3s are more fun anyway, as you can relatively easily do multiple races each year!
So sore today, spent the weekend looking at 29ers, as is suspect the reason I was getting destroyed on the flat was partly equipment wise, but in reality buying a new bike for one race is a little over the top, plus it isn't going to make me the 12-13 minutes id need on the bike to win the race!

Fit some tribars to your MTB :)
OR fit some CX tyres to your IA!
-
• #1532
hmmm. it doesn't specifically say you cant ride a TT bike (although it does say no CX bikes) which I think is possibly a bit unfair as I reckon as long as you had chunky tires on you'd probably be fine.
Just got an email about the race report and I'm on the front page! (plus a few picks of me on the human race FB pace- nicked those for my blog!)

Didn't realise you had a blog, so checked it out. I like your write ups and I'm impressed you can remember so much!
You've memntioned your visor fogging up a few times - Have you tried any other helmets, or riding without the visor?

Thanks, I'm trying to edit posts down a bit and generally be a bit more positive...
a non fogging helmet would be handy, but i think in cold damp conditions, where my head is already wet there is always going to be a problem and besides, i'm saving my pennies for an aerocoach session will see if he can add that into the testing protocol...

Has anyone else got the moov tracker?
Moov.cc
It's very good! -

Looks interesting. Wonder if DCRainmaker has seen it (not has his hands on it yet by the looks of it).
(What's up with the swimmers left arm though on the video?)
-
• #1538
I've had mine for a year now and love it. I never get running injuries any more and can run father and faster. and my swimming is much more efficient.

Does it have a mute button?
-
• #1540
Yes. But mine doesn't sound anything like the one in the video. Mine speaks in an English accent and doesn't say stupid things like "common, you can do it!"
It just says "you're impact is too heavy..." And "you're a little behind the pace" -

Nice. By the time I'd thought I may take a punt on it it's gone up. But..
"C-LPX-UNTS"
Planet-X trolling the triathletes.

anyone want a well used but good condition 910xt?
comes with a 3 week old premium HR strap, charger and new but colourful (blue and green) straps.
does £70 seem reasonable?

With a strap, that's a complete steal.
Ask £100 for it.

Thames Turbo sprint race series dates for 2016 (no great surprise as they're all bank holiday Mondays).
http://raceseries.thamesturbo.com/our-races/sprint-race-series/
Bit steep at £40 a pop but them I'm used to Audaxes which cost next to nothing. (Then again, I've paid £400 to do IM Wales and that's even more expensive with accommodation/travel/etc.)
Bit early too (be there by 5.30am) which makes cycling there a bit of an arse (I'd rather not have to get a Zipcar as that'll add another £40 to it).
Hmm, may just do one then and see how it goes.

Seems to be standard sort of price for a sprint, more so if you have to buy a days BTF membership (usually £5)
-
• #1548
Yup. Guess it's all to do with the chip timing stuff, that seems to be the expensive bit.
Wondering whether BTF membership is worth it. £41 and it looks like I'll only be doing 4 or 5 (max) Triathlons next year. It does get my running club £12 though.
-
• #1549
I haven't bothered. I only did 1 tri last year (a sprint).
I definitely think it's worth paying to be a member of a Tri club - Mine was £40 for the year and they do lots of group training for all disciplines, and you're able to enter CTT events. You should also be able to get afiliated through UKA, which usually means £2 off for more running races.

I joined because of the personal accident/liability stuff, but £5 surprise extra cost at triathlons is worth avoiding.
its also the only way to get into the GB Age Group team, but not something considered when I first joined...
Nice trisuit here for £20

Subtle and tasteful - Shoukd appeal to all triathletes.
