Crikey.
I just did 112miles / 14mph = 8 hours, 9pm start = 5am finish, add an hour for food and piss stops and you're at 6am, allow for punctures and procrastinating and you might be at 7am.
Ok, well, whenever the depart time as long as we agree to all be there by then it should be fine.
The halfway feed stop is now so full that you might queue for ages. My mate Ian and I are quite often first at the feed, and last year we were third and fourth. Within five or ten minutes after we got there, the queue was out the door--around 1,000 people having been at the start. We hadn't seen anything like it before--and this was around 11:30pm or so. In previous years, people only started trickling in after midnight. People are also getting to Dunwich earlier and earlier.

The main bottleneck is the feedstation, it can take over an hour to get through there, if they still have food. I happy to wait at the feedstation with packed food for a while, although not too long. Other than that, some people are just slower cyclists.
Ah, beat me to it.

We need a list of people who are doing the ride, and indications of whether they'd like a coach:
- Velocio (+ Coach)
- Clefty (coach)
- joe smith (coach)
- Velocio (+ Coach)

People are leaving earlier and earlier. We left around 9 and were catching up other riders all the way last year, some of whom must have started many hours earlier.
I quite like the idea of leaving at midnight and absolutely blasting it.

True,
I think a bulk of us rolled at about 8.45 and even though I drafted Object and Hillbilly all the way out to Epping at very high speed there were always people in front of us.

Was waiting for this thread..
Every time I have done the Dunwich I cane the first half so I can get to the food station asap and not have to wait for so long. You can always take it easy on the home stretch.
I think as a group we should leave London Fields around 7 - 7:30, that way you get out of East London avoiding the congestion and out into the countryside whilst it is still light.

VB, to avoid the usual list problems, any chance we could trial the poll option for this. Multiple entries so people can indicate In, Coach, Spares in the van etc?
-
• #60
much better option. it gives numbers. not text.
numbers = good. -

Oh well, we now have a poll for counting... +1's should register and vote. It is the LFGSS coach afterall, they should at least say hello :)

I suppose you could have a +1 button but somehow I can see that leading to confusion and madness.

Lantern, use the poll else be sorely disappointed. Sore from riding and disappointed as the coach rolls over the horizon without you.

YAY!!!!!!! We've been talking about this at work, and I'm getting really excited about it! Its going to be 531!

The Merc Sprinter should be fine, I don't think I'm licensed to drive the Luton. Besides, if there is any genuine need to rescue a forumenger for any reason, the Sprinter would be preferable on some of the lanes with ass loads of fucking cyclists on them.
Anyone doing the double is welcome to stick stuff in the van but will need to organise collection before I return the van on Sunday.
