  • Big balls award for 2017 goes to you mate!

  • and the stoker

  • Quote: "It's so foggy I don't really miss anything if I close my eyes."

  • "at least if I die in a ravine, I won't see it until just before I hit the ground" descent... :/

  • I told you to take my drum brake!

  • Was gonna say, wouldn't fancy that without a drum.

  • Rear hub is 6-bolt!

  • True. All credit to @6pt, I did nothing but cling on and pretend to be somewhere else. It was excellently captained, I only squeaked in terror a couple of times.

  • Worst comes worst you could always foot jam between the frame and the rear tyre...

  • Bravo les jeunes!

  • Went with JD Tandems. We're quite heavy and I hate repairing spokes so trust was a big part of it. Ended up with their G6000 rim which is stiff as anything.

PS bloody hell, wouldn't like that without a drum brake... Chapeau!

  • More silliness. All done now though. Sitting in Grenoble waiting for the rain to clear before we have to pedal to the coach pickup. Don't want to spend 18 hours on a coach with a wet arse :(

Can you ask your wife if her husband is single?

  • Hello tandemers.

    Want £100?

My wife is a production stylist and is working on a shoot for a menswear range. We are sourcing a "well loved", rideable tandem for one of next week's shots. If anyone on here fancies a few bucks I'm looking for someone to loan us their tandem for the week, potentially drop it off and pick it up (Leyton, London). It will be travelling by van to and from the West Country where it will take part in the shoot. There's £100 in it (which isn't a lot but it's pays for some new extra long cables or a rentastoker for the day).

If anyone's interested let me know via PM. We'd need to see pics etc and it needs to be with me by this Sunday (10th). Looking back at the last few pages: @6pt high spec machine isn't appropriate but @Clockwise shared bike is perfect for what the producers have in mind (or something tatty and ratty as long as it's capable of being ridden).

  • I'll be on holiday in europe so can't help but the friend the tandem is with might be able to sort something. It is rideable but pretty much single speed at the moment as I need to recable the gears, could do with hubs and stuff serviced too.

When would the bike be back?

  • @veLLo has a tandem gathering dust, maybe I could drop it off for you?

  • Sounds potentially good. Could we take a look at a pic please?

  • I've responded via message. Thanks for getting back. Gears not an issue as it's just some models cruising up and down. Hope to have the van back Thursday.

  • Here it is!
    Happy to remove the stickers!
Champagne NOS mudguards have been installed since that picture, can take updated pic of the machine is of interest...

  • Thanks Vello. I'll pm you shortly.

  • That's exactly the drivetrain setup I would want if we had a tandem :-)

  • Or just Stunt pegs where the crank is.

  • It always seemed a bit odd that @danstuff and I didn't have a tandem. Well I put that right and we've ridden enough it to decide as terrifying as it is we do like it. Inevitably it 'needs' work and will probably go in the direction of @luckyskull 's Mercian meaning a Current Projects post may follow.
