Or, if your stoker's arse is that way inclined, a sprung Brooks saddle eg Champion Flyer. -

i can almost hear that flexing from here

Do breakaways do that? The separable joints seem to be Marman clamps, which don't positively resist torsion like Hirth joints (e.g. S&S) do.

Long shot, but does anyone know of a source of a silver, 40 hole Sputnik rim?

700c?
No Sputniks but https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-tape/0-kinlin-adhn-700c-622-rim-silver-40-hole/

Yeah, that's my backup plan. I guess they're slightly weaker than the Sputniks?
Edit: And yes, 700c -

Yes. Single not double eyelet, probably be good enough unless your heavy, luggage, off road etc

Well, I'm in the 0.1 tonne class, but the stoker is mostly my 12 year old son, so ADHNs might do for now. Might have to cancel the trip with my BiL, who is my size.

Do they have to be Sputniks and 40h? I've just built some wheels for Cycliste's tandem with 36h Velocity Chukker rims. They're reassuringly studly at over 600g a piece, and they should be pretty stiff given the relatively deep profile. The wheels and tyres, even with Hope hubs and a featherweight SRAM cassette, come in at nearly 4kg for the pair. If they're not up to scratch then I'm either going to have to give up eating entirely or chop off a limb.

Nice. Enjoy the extra 4 spokes!

Hmm, the Sputniks could just go on something else. Where did you buy the Chukkers? Can't seem to find many dealers in Europe?

Just found this in my dad’s garden. Seems like an absolute tank.

No, I had to ship them in from the US from wheelbuilder.com

• #1522
Oh, that'll be expensive. Danish customs and all.
-
• #1523
Shipping was pretty horrific too. They ended up being over £100 each by the time they'd got through customs.

Quickly scanning the thread I genuinely thought this was ours against our fence in the garden lol. We had ours resprayed this colour though. You’ll reassess that opinion once you’ve got someone on the back of it and you can feel it noodle beneath you. They’re great fun and v capable bikes though, enjoy.

Haha, that’s exactly what I did - saw yours, did a double take and then showed him to check who he’d got it from. Some serious inspo in those pics you’ve posted!
I've got some much wider ones on mine and find myself getting touched inadvertently. At my age, I'm glad of the attention
